A Sailor's last Voyage....

Todd, truly sorry to hear about your Dad. I'm so glad you got to take him on that voyage a few weeks ago. This all really sucks; it brings back a lot of memories for me. It wasn't but after just a few days after my Dad passed, that I realized I wasn't a kid anymore, even though I already had children of my own. Instead of him taking the lead on everything we did, it was now my turn to step up. But trust me on this, it does get better. Pretty soon, you won't have that awful mix of crying and laughing when you think of him or tell stories of him; that will be replaced my pure smiles and great, great memories. I'm sure the legacy your Dad left is one we all strive for, when we too have to move on.

Take care,

Tom

Todd, Sorry for your loss. Your farther raised a good son.

Todd,

I'm very sorry to read about your loss today. I'm glad that you had the opportunity to share some very specials times with your father, especially in the later days. Thank you for sharing this very intimate moment of your life with your good friends at CSR. It will help each of us prepare in some way for the inevitable. Hopefully it helps you as well. God bless.

John

This was such a wonderful thread to follow and I appreciate you sharing this with us. All the best to you and your family in this somber time, you will be in our prayers.

Todd,

A sailors prayer from Psalms 107:

Then they cried out to the Lord in their trouble,
and he brought them out of their distress.

He stilled the storm to a whisper;
the waves of the sea were hushed. They were glad when it grew calm,
and he guided them to their desired haven.

Sorry for your loss. Thank you for sharing this journey with us.

Steve

Todd, I am truely sorry for you and you'r family's lose. There is a saying that goes something like this: You are not truely a man untile you loose you'r Dad, That is the one person that you can always count on to tell you the trueth, even if it is what you don't want to hear. From what Ive witnessed on CSR you and you'r brother have already reached the status of manhood. My Dad died 6yrs ago, also I have a brother, he and I have formed a new relationship in the years after Dad's death.
Ive probably said to much, I know right now words will not be remembered, There is strength from above, and comfort from you'r friends. Our prayers will be with you and you'r family. Nicky

Sorry my friend.

whoa...hard to type when you can't read the screen. Thanks to all. It's amazing how you guys know how to inject the words of wisdom.

The support here and throughout our family, friends has been great. Thank you. We learned this morning that My Dad's Aunt died last night as well. A massive stroke. Anyway, we're a large, close, strong family that will pull through, but I want to thank all of you for the prayers, thoughts and great words.

My wife made this this morning.

Our prayers are with you and your family.

Todd,

Very sorry for your loss. A good father/son relationship is of the best gifts in life. It is permanent, even through this temporary separation.

My thoughts and prayers are with you.

Sorry to hear about your Dad Todd. A great photo treatment with the perfect song playing tribute to your Dad.

I did not know your Dad, but watching that made me feel both proud and sad.

Todd:

Didn't see this thread until now. Sorry for your loss, I can relate...

I just returned from my FIL's funeral in NJ this weekend. An avid boater his whole life, I was always more excited than he was when he purchased a different boat. Owned many different types of boats- from a 53' Navigator, to a 70' Pace MY, a 44' Sea Ray DA- which was "too small" for him, LOL- to the boat he just purchased last spring, a 58' Hatteras MY. He and my MIL had their best summer ever with the boat last year- and we were all so glad he was able to enjoy that before losing his battle with cancer.

There's something about a love of being on the water which is a common thread that unites all of us. Carpe Diem, my friends...

Todd,

My sincerest condolances! The sympathy expressed by so many on this list for your family's loss is unequalled and something to behold.

Smooth seas to you and yours!
