87 300 Sedan Bridge Project

Oh NO! You didn't take the old name off all the way yet without performimg the "de-naming" ceremony????? I think you are still safe. Follow this:

Looks good. It is funny to see the differances in the next year model like the grab rails on the bow by the hatch and the "See Ray" that is in the blue panel behind the windows on mine and lower on yours. I also installed flush tank vents..............

so here is my updated list of things to be done on the boat

TO DO LIST
Caulk bridge floor
Install speakers/amp's/remotes
Redo teak
Buff/Wax
Install New Stripes
Install Depth Finder
Reseal Transducers
Clean Bilge
Rebuild Carbs
Check Impellers
Find New Cabinet Door
Run Motors On Water To Get Them Up 2 Temp
Have Enclosure Made
Install Blue Underwater Transom Light's
Deep Clean Carpets and Seats
PO glued a piece of sunbrella to the forward hatch. I took it off now im left with a hatch full of glue so my plan this week is strip/wet sand the hatch back to normal and re install it

with the weather the way its is I hope to launch middle of April

We have a 1987 as well .. out of Sandusky Ohio.. great boat .. doing salon carpet this spring and a good clean up and ready for water .. boat has 1900 hours and motors run like new yet and use no oil.. great boat...

So bigger boat means I needed a bigger dingy

so i picked up this nice jet boat for a crazy good price. It needed some work it had not been running in a few years and the jet pump needed to be rebuilt but after getting the old gas out and rebuilding the carb's it fired up and ran great I have the jet drive parts on order but i couldn't help myself and had to take it for a quick ride today

today I took the boat's winter coat off. This weekend me and a few friends will be wheeling and waxing it

so I need your guys opinion. I'm thinking of leaving all the stripes off. What do you guys think?

If I put them back on it will be a black 2in stripe on the bottom and a burgundy 2in stripe above it

let me know what u guys think I need to make my mind up this weekend

The stripes serve a purpose. They make the boat look longer. Your eye is drawn to a long smooth line so it gives the impression of length. It's not an accident that they're there. I'm very much not a fan of removing them.

I like some boats without stripes, this one is one of them. With the bright work, salon windows and front cabin ports the boat just looks cleaner to me.

I vote for stripes, mine are getting redone this fall when we haul out for new bottom paint, raise swim step, 4 blade props & new shafts with line cutters.......

looking good , I remove mine about 4 years ago and you can see the marks of the stripes at a close view, they wont go. But it will look longer with the stripes.
i may put them back only on black 2" with out the gold. good luck:thumbsup:

sneak peek of some work on the boat today

no wax yet and still have more wheeling to do above the rub rail

lots of progress in the last few days. I got the new hatch on to replace the old glue filled one

IMG_1051.jpg

and below the rub rail is wheeled and waxed

I liked the boat without stripes but I would have had to wet sand the whole boat to get rid of the shadows from where the old stripes were so I reinstalled the stripes

next weekend im going to finish wheeling and finish some small stuff and i should be on track for my May 11th launch date
