60 DA Makeover

Cute boat, glad you had a chance to polish her up! I would love to see some pictures of the interior upgrades you have done.

Thanks for the comments, I'm headed to the " office " shortly to start prepping shafts, struts, rudders, trim tabs etc for Prop Speed application. The Interior is still a mess....tools, boxes, etc. I'll post when able. In the mean time, here is part of the team. I've done the entire boat before, paint & polish. But my rotator cuff can't take 100 % of that abuse anymore. 4-5 guys 1 1/2 days to wash, buff & wax, couldn't have done it w/o their help !

Beautiful craft
someday I would like to join the giant white boat crowd..

Damn Tim,

You make me wish I was a retired Delta Pilot...Oh wait...

Just beautiful!
OK Carter, Since you brought it up...... After the boats launched & debugged, come get your hands dirty on the next project. REAL engines..... Props have to come off, get crated & and shipped to MSP for an AD inspection. Those props are almost 10' long and trying not to put finger prints on them or dropping them on the concrete is always a " fun " job

Jon, I'll look forward to it...... I wanted to make St Michaels next W/E, but again, chances are slim...too many details to finish. Tim

Tim,
i thought you were adding a tender rack on the platform for my 300da! Or did you decide in putting it in the trunk storage?

All kidding aside, she's looking great. Will be great to see you on the water finally.

James

I'll be in the bay next weekend if you've splashed!

I thought waxing my boat was a pain. Glad to see you taking such good care.
What would you think if SeaRay ventured back into the 65-75' range? I go down to the Ft Lauderdale Boat Show each year just to see what everyone else is creating. I still come back thinking SeaRay has one of the best products. Althought this Fairline Gran Turismo 62 is pretty nice.

By the way.. I know Prince William would love to unload their new 2011 610 if anyone is interested ;)

I meant to ask how was the Twin Beech doing! You've had quite a "restoration" summer. Is that your 5 year prop AD? Where is she hangared now? My late Father and I sure loved looking at your last one about 18 years ago in the hangar in Cartersville. I grew up in the 50's learning to fly with him in his D-18 model.

Look for a 65' Sundancer and a 65' sedan bridge from Sea Ray soon. Same hull for both models. Prototypes are being played with now according to another thread on CSR.

Yeah my dealer mentioned something about 2015 model line. Will be interesting to see.

Carter, yes it's the 5 yr AD.... It's rare to find anyone that knows what a Beech-18 is, let alone someone who flew one in the past. This one is the D-model as well....1952
I just got back from polishing the stainless insert in the rubrail and sanding the stbd side running gear.
I took a few quick pics of the master. The first pic is where the new four beveled mirrors are going to be installed in 2-3 wks

James, that would be a trick :smt024
Looking frwd to getting out on the Bay...... Im curious to see if I can beat my 42 mph WOT with all this work......!

Looks great Tim. Your other Twin Beech was a C-45 wasn't it? Gotta love those Ham Stan "Hammers"...Do they have to put new hubs on or is the 5 yr AD just an inspection?

It was dressed up as one, Stars & Bars, but it was actually a 1953 D-model 18. Very similar to this one, with the exception this one has a wobble pump ! The radios and interior are far above the other one. Come to think of it, one of its awards was Best in Show in Southern Boating 2011 Jan or Feb issue ( I think ) for the Ocean Reef " Wings, Wheels & Boats " Festival in Key Largo, FL. Tim
PS: Hubs & prop gears get inspected, then get news seals and washers/spacers. These are the hydromatics, so they are pretty large...

Ryan, While north bound from S. FL to Annapolis 2012, the , always class act, Sikes Creek plant showed me the renderings of the 75' along with an invitation to see the Mack-up of the interior.... Very edgy.... To the best of my knowledge, it went by way of the dumpster during the downturn. The terrific SR customer service is, so far, what keeps me from going to Sunseeker ....Tim

now that right there takes me back.... Our sky diving club out of Star Idaho had use of a Beech 18 cargo; I bet I had 80 dives out of it. That was back in the early 70's.... We competed out of that airplane all over the Northwest. It all ended when it did a wheels up landing during a fuel run at BOI. Ended up it was way out of cert. and was impounded; never saw it again......

Don't mean to butt in, but I am a huge D-18 fan. I owned a 1952 D-18 for awhile and hauled skydivers with it. Just a ton of fun. I'm a retired UPS pilot now and enjoying my 460 Sundancer. Don't miss the Boeing but a little time in a twin Beech would be fun!!
