460 DA Owners Thread

Hi everyone. Unfortunately due to the crazy winds last night, the boat smacked the deck and damaged one of my vent covers. So .... questions. Are they made any longer? Where can I get one? I'm almost afraid to ask how much those plastic pieces are.

Thank you!

Flounder Pounder or sea ray parts normally have them

Flounder pounder marine has them. There are 2 different sizes, so measure yours to ge safe when ordering the correct one.

No, not expensive at all. I’ve replaced 2 in 5 years....1 was my fault

Darn. Ok. Due to the way the boat is with finger pier, I can't measure. Habe to wait until spring

On the 460 they are all the same size. If I’m not mistaken, they are the larger of the 2 available. Removing and installing will be much easier with the dock on same side or when in dry dock.

Do they pop off? Screw off? Just trying to understand how they go on and come off.

Pushed on and held with “Christmas” trees. Plastic, rubber inserts. A little caulk as well.

They will pry off...slow and easy!!!

I couldn't find it at FP Marine, so here it is at EBay:

Do you have the parts manual for the 460 on hand? If not it is readily available at the SeaRay.com site in the archives section. This is a GREAT reference manual for all part numbers.
I have attached it but not sure if you can download it or not.

I have the parts manual on the boat. I looked at that ebay site and that part and that part isn't correct for what I"m referring to...... :(

The part I'm looking for is this (see attached and where I circled). Sorry if I didn't describe it correctly.

Engine room air intake grill and not so easy as the clam shell cover everybody thought you were talking about... I hope yours can be repaired.

Unfortunately, I need to order both --- the inside and outside on the starboard side. It apparently bumped against the pier during very strong storms (and apparently one of the pylons is messed up too which is the cause) but nonetheless.... those are the parts I need. Thank you!

If you have all the pieces, I would try to repair it. Finding a replacement was very difficult and that is why I repaired mine.

Unfortunately, there is damage on the outer piece and the inner piece was busted up pretty good too.

Here is the information on the inner trim piece. I worked with Niki at Formco on this. I decided I would order for each side even though I only needed the STBD...figured what the heck. :)

I wish repairing was an option. This thing is broken into pieces that I can’t repair.

I want to give a shout out to Marine Parts Epress and the owner JD.

As you know I have had the EDC issue for some time now, hopefully the solution is on board and will be dialed in early January. As part of the process I had connected with Marine Parts Express and ordered a new EDC...well, long story short, the salesman was given inaccurate information and a new one couldn't be ordered. After a couple weeks of waiting, the owner called me one day and we chatted at length about the problem. He then went on a mission to get this solved.

He found a replacement part sitting on a shelf in New Jersey, but it was for a slightly different model engine, a 72 series, not a 73. All indications were that it would be fine and I should install it and give it a try. Upon installation JD wanted me to follow up with my findings over the weekend and gave me his cell # so that I could update him. That was service above and beyond the call of duty!!!

After a couple of weeks of "trying" it was determined that I would be better off with the original part I bought and to work through the calibration issues on that. JD gladly took the part back and issued a refund.

So, if you are in need of engine parts for Volvo, Cat, Yanmar or Cummins...check with him first, he has GREAT service!
