460 DA Owners Thread

I’ll bet someone changed the bulbs to blue. They are g4 bi pin type. Available from super bright led.com. Not too hard to change just pull the fixture down from the ceiling until the springs nearly break off your fingers (hahaha).

I’m not qualified on the tv mount. Mine is above the refrigerator.

I am taking about the lights up top in the cockpit (hardtop). I am aware the ones down stairs pop out with the springs but the ones up top (same size it appears) are sealled units that when you twist off the trim ring there are 3 screws that hold them in place. I would have thought there would be more than one color light but we cannot seem to find a way to make that happen. Tried turning off and on the switch quickly but no color change.

In regards to the TV he has the same as your it is above the fridge (old tuber) but wants to move it to the wall next to the head door.

One other question, the 46 has 2 fresh water pumps that are plumbed in parallel. What is the purpose of this? He has 2 switches on his panel, one for each pump. Do you run them both at the same time of this this a "back up" thing?

I keep both of mine on, but last week #2 started cycling on and off. I turned it off with the circuit breaker, and everything seems to run fine with just #1.

I thought your friend was getting a 2003 model? That year would have the TV on the wall in a cabinet created for a flat screen 27" Zenith TV which is now obsolete.
When we bought the boat in 2008, I moved our TV location on our '02 model to that wall but without the cabinet simply because the viewing angle just seemed better than the over-the-fridge location. (I changed from the old CRT to a 26" Sony LCD). Fortunately for me the first owner purchased that 2003 cabinet from Sea Ray to upgrade to the wall mount but he never mounted it. So he gave it to me and we customized the wall cabinet to fit the Sony a year later. Now-a-days it might use a 30-32" model but that was back in 2008.
Bottom line is you don't need a wall cabinet because it limits the size of the TV, but the cabinet does hide the wiring and makes the installation look "factory". (All wiring is easily run from the original location above the fridge through the ceiling and under the wall/ceiling trim; power, HDMI, cable, audio for a Bose system). I doubt that you can get these cabinets any longer from the factory, so I suggest that you just wall mount a flat screen and live with a small wire bundle coming down from the ceiling trim. A lot of owners have done this.

With regard to the cockpit ceiling fixtures, they come apart easily. I replaced the bi-pin halogen G4 with LED equivalents from Superbright LED as "NotHerDecision" mentioned. But I also added a festoon bulb clip into each of the four fixtures and used a colored festoon bulb. I changed the dash switch to a three position switch and now can have bright white LED lighting or soft green lighting tied into other under-seat accent lighting.

And to add to the above. The hardtop light trim rings twist off then there is a seal around the glass. Simply pry out that glass with the seal and be careful you don’t drop it and it comes right out.

Yes it is a 2003 without the tv on that wall location....wierd. I guess my next question is what is that wall made of? feels like just fiberglass on both sides, I see about a 1-2" thicknees between the head wall. Is there plywood in there to get some support? Does the upper trin around the headliner just pop off with Xmas trees? I see the wire run being pretty easy up to that part then need to get a little "custom" to hide it behind that trim.

I will check that out today.... Need to try and pull off that glass to see what I have to work with.

In the ceiling/wall trim, check for little trim screws hidden in the pleats. I can't remember but it does come apart.
There is wood in the walls and I remember that my Sea Ray dealer who was helping me at the time, contacted the factory and they provided a layout of the wall for TV mounting.
Yes, 2003 was a transition year on the 460. Some boats had the 6CTA motors and others the 480CE. I wasn't aware that the wall cabinet wasn't on some '03. Maybe he has an early model? Which motors does he have?

OC - mine is the same way. My main AC pump has a parallel pump as well. It’s a perfect back up for a boat that spends time in the Bahamas. No ruining your trip for a pump failure. I do not run them simultaneously.

Domestic water pumps started to run every 10 minutes. Just traced a small leak from the accumulater tank. Is the tank serviceable or just replace it. Anyone have a part number for it..And Happy Father's day to everyone

Next the TV situation in the main salon, what is the best way to mount this on the wall of the head? How did you run the wires? What’s and looks the best?

Hello, here is a link to how I installed my tv in the salon. https://wolfsden460sundancer.shutterfly.com/pictures/74

The trim piece was stapled in behind the ruffles...start at one end and lift it out, the larger back piece was screwed in. I had to route the back panel as you will see for the wires to lay neatly. The power cord, HDMI and RG-6 take up some space. I then fed all the wires over the galley headliner...remove the 2 lamps for easy access then finally to the back of the fridge where I installed the satellite box etc.

I think it came out pretty clean and was not that difficult.

This is the one I ordered this winter to replace the original. On my 99 DA, it was originally located behind the fridge...I removed it from there and installed it in the engine room for easier access.

Happy Fathers day to you as well!!

Check out my post 1396 and 1453. Those are the lights I used and the process to do it.

Good morning all. It is time for me to clean the holding tank sensors as they only tell me when the tank is empty. does anyone have any tricks that make this job easy. or anything not to do..Thanks John

if they are the same ones i have, i undid the screws, the unit comes out and the glass cover separates from the rest to expose the bulb..

First and foremost...WEAR A GOOD MASK!! LOL

When I did mine, the hardest part was the dang wires for the sensors...unscrewing the cap and not twisting them all up was a pain. After that, a high pressure hose/sprayer. The TP gets clumped on the sensors and dries there over time holding the sensors down. At least they get dried here in Michigan due to the winter layup.

This year I installed the Camco tank tornadoes to rinse the tanks from the top now.

Good luck!

I added access ports on the top of the tanks so I don't have to remove the sensor. And yes, wear a mask!!

And yet, another BRILLIANT idea!!! What make/model of cap is that if you recall? Obviously they must have a very good seal on them.
