Yes exactly the sameis the 05 42DA the same as a 06 44DA?

Lol….. that 420 on the side has saved me 3’ of transient slip fees multiple times that’s the one time I won’t argue over lengthIn 06 they added the bigger hull side windows and I believe upgraded the electronics on the dash. Other than that I believe they're identical.
Funny thing was my neighbor had an 06 44 and I had an 05 420. My haul-outs, bottom paint and weekly washes were cheaper than his.

Other changes include the TV moved to a flip down (gives a ton of extra cabinet space in galley) and the door to Master is sliding versus a hinged door and the opening is much wider.
There was also a change in engine packages - a bit fuzzy on dates as it's been a while but I think in 04 it was only 450C, 05 it was 450C or 480CE, and 06+ it was QSC.
I'm replacing my clarion stereo with a Fusion 770, have been searching for an hour and can not find the thread about routing a wire from the helm to behind the breaker panel in the cabin.
I remember reading once, that someone had found a chase hose that lead from the panel to the helm that they snaked. Any insight on the best way to route a NEMA wire to my backbone at the helm would be appreciated.
Those interior changes happened in 05. Also included additional trim and upgraded materials.
Don't know about the engines tho
A 24 inch TV will fit better than most anything. The cover panel comes off with four screws. You’ll need to take off the back wall off of the cabinet above the microwave to find the power.Interesting.....so what smart TV can be "seamlessly" mounted to the main salon analog flip down TV? Wont there be a size/shape issue with a new smart TV?
All - I detailed over at the Electronics Thread my recent replacement of the OEM Clarion Cockpit amp with a Fusion amp:
Trying to diagnose issue with starboard cockpit speakers
I wanted to post here to share what I learned about how the amps and head unit are wired. I had always assumed that these switches cut the power to the external amps:

So I was super confused when I starting undoing the wiring bundles to the amps to discover that the two amps were wired together. How could the switches cut power to each individual amp if there are wired together!?
I ran out of time - so when I went home that night I referred to the PDF I have of the Owners Manual which includes a wiring diagram of the stereo and amps (see attached PDF). What I learned by studying the wiring diagram:
So what do the switches in the above pic do? They are connected to 16 gauge blue/white wires that connect into the "Remote Connection" input on the amp. This tells the amp to power on when it detects voltage.
- The cockpit amp is supplied by (red/black) 8 gauge wires coming straight from the "Stereo" breaker.
- These wires are joined to 10 gauge (red/black) wires that then feeds the smaller cabin amp.
- The cabin amp wires are joined to 14 gauge (red/black) wires that then double back to the circuit panel feed the head unit (originally Clarion XMD3 but updated by previous owner to a Fusion).
Luckily I had taken precautions anyway - turned off amp switch / turned off stereo circuit breaker / turned off battery solenoid / checked w voltmeter - but somebody who just assumed those switches cut power to the amps ... might be in for a shocking revelation.
Well looks like I will be saying good by to the 420/440 DA group if all goes well, I have learned so much from this forum, thanks all !!
Someone came up and asked if my boat was for sale and like we all answer “boats are always for sale” i threw out what I thought was a fair price and he said sure I’ll pay cash.
I’m taking the girl for one last 2 week trip in northern Lake Michigan before survey and sea trial, wish me luck
As fate would have it, my dock neighbors are selling their ‘06 48 DA, the stars are aligning.
Well I gave up today trying to fix the vaccuflush master head. That engineer who put that pump in front of the batteries needs to come up here and frickn crawl down there. I was down there 3 times. Replaced all duck bills….. same result ….. today hired marina service ….. I am not going down there again…..
I changed the starter solenoid on the port a couple of weeks ago. I laid over transmission with my back against the electrical panel….. very hard to get back out after you are wedged in thereI have replaced bellows and duckbills in both of mine. The master head was definitely the harder on the two to access. I did 100% from up above reaching down to get to it. Not fun, but doable due to my long arms. People talk about getting down in the bilge between the port engine and the shelf with batteries and master vacuflush and for the life of me I cannot see it. I work from above on the batteries and such. I need to access the starter on the port engine and it is up under the exhaust pipe on that side. Haven’t figured that out yet.
