420 DA Thread

Here’s an update on the new cockpit shade for our boat. Frame is made with cantilevered supports from the hardtop (no vertical poles). Material in photos is only temporary for making a pattern. Very happy thus far. Will post pics when the canvas goes on next week.

Side bar - I’m 6’3” and its made high enough so I don’t need to duck while entering through the transom door. Also, access to the bow around the sides is still very easy...

That looks fantastic.....

Magnificent. That's precisely what I'm looking for, but without success. Can you share the contact info for the fabricator? Thx in advance.

Murphy’s Marine Canvas on Shelter Island Dr. in San Diego. Ask for Marshall (the owner). He does amazing work.

Hey Chief Ed, I would like to jump in here and agree ,Marshall, did some work for me and he was excellent, but be prepared he’s busy, but he’s good and worth the wait. Steve

Hey Steve. Agreed. We’ve been in his “queue” since October! The “good guys” here in San Diego are all backed up for weeks/months...

I lost the fridge last night it has power just stopped cooling. The Freezer is working fine and it’s a combo unit and sharing the same power source. The setup is a Coolmatic RSD-115 it’s original so getting up in years.
Is there anyway to troubleshoot?
If replaced what did you guys do replace both fridge and freezer?...if so with what

I put a NovaKool in the cockpit of the 44DB and it was by far the best marine refrigerator I have ever had. Keep in mind it was in the cockpit with 100* days and sun and finally defrosted it after 2-years. I just put a small Isotherm in the cockpit of the 420DA and like it also. Time will tell how it performs. I also have an Isotherm freezer in the galley I am really liking. It will get to 0* and hold it there, is very quiet, and no ice build up. I put a full size new Norcold in the galley of the 44DB 8 months before selling the boat. It had the poorest quality seals I have ever seen. I added gaskets to it to help, but it needed to be defrosted every 2 weeks......

Just my $0.02....

GEEEEZ !!!..... what a frickn morning. Woke up on the boat to all 3 carbon monoxide detectors beeping... unplugged them all. Go in guest head and the red light is on...check breaker everything is fine but it is not pumping. Go in fridge to get a drink and it’s warm...wtf ?

So go back to the panel and my Port batteries are low....take tray out and battery charger is acting erratic...pegging needle going dead then comes back on and blinks green....sporadically charging Port side.... starboard side is fine needle steady. So this thing is done ordered a new one from Pronautic. Mean while ran down to Walmart to get a charger and batteries are back to normal

pull fridge out... I can’t see anything going on in there...every thing is fine but the compressor won’t come on.

I have so much crap in the back I can’t lift hatch to check why the vacusystem is malfunctioning.... not a good morning

Our first night on the boat last June all CO2 sensors started screaming. I unplugged them. Given we survived the night, my guess is a malfunction. Left them that way. In the morning Broker suggested replacing them. Any suggestions most welcome.

Is it not functioning on AC, DC or both? In any case bypass the power supply by running 12v straight to the controller on the fridge. If the fridge works it's your power supply. Cheap and easy fix to replace. May also want to upgrade to the BD50 instead of the usual BD35.

This is so weird....we anchored out last Tuesday night. Weather was spectacular, so I didn't run the generator. I swear the frig and the freezer, while working, didn't cool enough. I'm thinking about replacing. I will follow this thread......Keep the info comin.

I did that ...ran the 12v directly to the controller..... nothing.... so ordered a controller today

Ordered a promariner 1240p this morning too...went to Walmart to get a cheap battery charger for now

Expensive breakfast

That ProMariner battery charger is the bomb.
I emailed them for a model to direct replace what I have and they were right on it within an hour....Costumer service doesn’t get better than that.
I just hope no damage to my batteries... port side is only a year old

FWIW I upgraded to the 1250P but required uprated breakers plus uprated wire gauge from the charger to the electrical panel in the bilge.
