410 Sundancer/Express Cruiser and 400 Sundancer/Express Cruiser **Official Thread**

Re: 410 Sundancer/Express Cruiser and 400 Sundancer/Express Cruiser **Official Thread

Depending on the model, most temp senders are mounted on the unit itself and not the controller. It monitors the incoming air temp and can often read low depending on where the unit is located, especially this time of year when the water is cold. This is a good reason to leave the fan running all the time to ensure the unit gets a good read of air temp.

The SMX controller itself can be offset to display a calibrated temp, but the temp sender still has to be outputting correctly.

Has anyone else been "asked" to recover the bolsters which run around the forward berth on a 400 DA? The admiral has issued the order to replace the outdated fabric but I am at a loss as to how to remove these. There are two pieces which are seamed in the center by the head of the bed and I can locate two screws where the two halves come together but no other attachment points. Is there a trick?

Thanks

So........after climbing into the forward berth I discovered that there are multiple attachment screws for each bolster and they are on the top side of these bolsters and screwed down into the shelf. Hope this helps the next person tasked with this chore.

After being disappointed by the condition of quite a few boats we finally signed papers today on a 2000 410 Express. Has the 3126 CATs. It's in New Buffalo, Michigan and will be bringing her home this Saturday. Very excited. Owner they in his essentially new RIB also.

Beautiful boat. You will love it, especially those Cats. Make sure all 11 Zincs on each engine are changed every season! Best of luck!

Brought the boat home Saturday and she didn’t miss a beat. Family was waiting at the dock more than excited (that is one of the joys of an 8 year old and twin 6 year olds). I’m sure I will have a million questions but my first one is the sliding door to the mid berth is almost impossible to roll. I actually have to pick it up and move it. Any ideas, track dirty maybe? Thanks for letting me come aboard.

Hi Everyone,

We are proud new owners of a '99 400 DA, she's a great boat and cannot wait to spend more time on the water. I had a small mishap at the dock and need a new hull clamshell vent. Does anyone know what the correct size would be. Searyman13 has them available on e-pay, but I forgot to measure for the size before I left the boat and I'm now headed to the west coast. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

Boat Drinks - congrats. We were looking for a Sundancer of your vintage but ended up with a slightly newer Express. Mind if I ask where you found your boat? We are thrilled with our new vessel.

Wet Dogggg, Congrats on your new purchase as well. We found the boat in Marinette WI, and are keeping it on Lake Winnebago, WI.

I know your boat very well, in fact I ran it to the fuel dock with you. I wish I would have known you were on this site!

It's been one hell of a journey/fight! My wife and I finally made the decision to step to a SR 410 DA, after weeks of going to see the boat, survey and negotiating the day finally came to take delivery. I owned the boat for just about exactly 1 hour when I hit something below the surface of the water and snapped one of my drive shafts, which left part of my drive shaft and prop laying at the bottom of lake Erie. After a few weeks of locating parts and dealing with a marina I got the call today that she is in the water and the sea trial went well. Expect for one thing, the service writer informed me that it seems like the RPM's are a little high at WOT. He reports that at WOT the RPM's are about 5k each engine. The boat has brand new 21/21 props on each side, nothing fancy.

2000 SR 410 DA
Twin Mercruiser 7.4 HO MPI engines

Just curious. What are your WOT RPM's? I am guessing about 4.5k

Congrats on the new boat, but that's a heck of a bad first hour! Debris in the lake has been brutal this season. If it makes you feel any better, on Monday I was aboard a friend's boat and we hit a huge submerged log. We cut it in half with the stbd prop, which had been tuned only 4 days earlier.

A dock neighbor / friend also just took delivery of a 2000 410. It's a beautiful boat. After years of telling people that one of the differences btx the 400 & 410 was a pocket door in the main stateroom, I was surprised to see that the 2000 model had a regular swing door... I guess I need to edit some posts...

I can't trust my tachs, but with 1,300 hours on my 7.4's, they top out near the low end of Merc's range for my Bluewaters, which IIRC is 4400-4600? Hearing them go 5k would give me chills. If yours are actually spinning to 5, re-tuning them will pay some fuel savings dividends.

Finally made her way to her home port. She handled great considering 3/4 of the trip were under stormy conditions and very rough waters. I found out that I need new wiper blades LOL.
