40 sedan bridge forum

Bill, that's good speed for 2150 rpm, I'm 3 mph under that when I'm not loaded down

We have lots of current here. When it's on your side you gotta ride it like a surfer.

It was just my wife and I, full tanks, half full water tank, sparkling clean bottom and no real gear of any kind onboard. Props are 22x24. Tabs were fully up.

Sold our 280 Chaparral sig in the fall and bought an 01 400 SB which we are just loving. Just back from a 10 day trip and what a difference!

Can anyone tell me if a small post is required when lowering the bridge table to make the sunbed?

Yup. I have two. I thought so. Heck, I'll probably never even use one.

Do you put a couple pieces of chlorine in the strainer? Ive notice it helps keep the growth down and the flow streaming well

Hey ZZ13. I looked everywhere and can't find one anywhere on my boat.

I would be happy to buy one from you but I am up in Canada near Toronto.

One of my buddies is in Myrtle Beach for the week. Are you near there?

Myrtle Beach is about 2 1/2 hr drive north. PM me your mailing address.

Would like to get the stairs out of the salon to access the A/C unit. Heard there was 4 screws to remove beneath the carpet on the stairs. Is this the way?
Thanks

There are 2 screws at the top and screws at the bottom next to the galley floor. They may be a little hard to see because they will be hidden in the carpet

They can be hard to find. Here are mine to give you an idea of where to look. Two at the top going vertical and two at the bottom going horizontal

Do you guys know what the make/model/color of the carpet pictured above is? I want to do some replacing, but cannot find details on it.

i have the same carpet in my 420 sedan.

Great photo information. Never thought of 2 vertical screws going down of the step. I think I found the horizontal ones.
Going to the boat today and will post my results.
Dear ZZ13, Found the screws and got the stairs out. After 6 years of crawling into the floor storage area like a monkey to clean the filter, thanks to your pictures, life is beautiful.
Much appreciated and the Admiral thanks you also. No need to pull me out of that tiny space anymore.

I was on the boat when I read your post. So I snapped a few pics.

The picture we need is of you crawling in there commando style cleaning the filter.

Hey Bill, I asked the Admiral if she wouldn't mind taking a pic of the commando tactic. She said that because of all the great food and wine we consumed this summer, my stomach would have a tough time getting in let alone getting out. So we will leave it to the imagination. The commando thought still has me smiling. Thanks so much again.

I am looking for your opinion before I spend the money.

I plan to get new rear canvas panels that snap to the radar arch rather than go all the way down to the back of the bridge. This would eliminate the seating interference and would leave a big rear open space for visibity and circulation. Plus it would be protected from weather since it can't rain upward. I would keep the old panels for winter use.

Have any of you done this? Is there any reason this is a bad idea?

Bill if I understand it right, it would be open on the bottom and no way to "close it off". If so you may get some diesel fumes sucked in there when traveling into the wind at slow speed. Bugs would be another consideration.
