40 sedan bridge forum

Finished my new wall. We tried to match the wall vinyl and everything new was just too clean and shiny. So we went with a contrast. Center panel is on a piano hinge. It swings out to get at storage. For the new wood panel in the counter corner, I had saved my two fridge door panels when I replaced the fridge. Bottom panel was tall enough but not wide enough. So I used the top panel to finish it out. It’s actually three pieces of the veneer glued on there. Can’t see any of the seams even up close. I got samples from Restoration Marine and nothing was close. Sovereign Cherry was the correct print pattern but was far to light of a color. Now to buy the chair for under the TV. Gorgeous!

that looks really pro and the colour is perfect. I assume the lh timber panel is easily removable also?

Yes it is. Swing open the “door” and it pulls right off. Thanks for the compliments. The whole project was less than $100 in materials, excluding chairs and stools.

Factory sofa is still in my garage. It’s now the “garage sofa”. Guess I should put a TV in there too.

Does anyone have an interest in the ottomans that came as an option? Just listed the pair in the for sale forum. Thought there might be interest here as well.

Hi. Are there any other companies that do extended swim platforms other than swimplatforms.com???

i got a quote from them. 4200 for the platform and 2200 for crating and shipping to Ct. and I don’t think I love the platform. I think it looks even less beam length than the stock one.

Curious to see if anyone has this one installed or if there are other companies out there.

Here’s what they sent me as a photo:

Swim Platform Ultra has a pattern for our 400's. www.swimplatform-ultra.com. I have seen their platforms on at 400 and it looked quite large. Not sure how it was attached, but I think that aspect might be installer specific. 3 months ago it was $4800 but that is CAD, so with USD it would be alot less.

Hope that helps,

Dave

Be careful not to go too big. My 4 foot platform digs in when the stern sinks as she approaches a plane and in coming off. I am working to raise it about three inches.

I looked at them all. Didn’t like any of the after market fixed platforms. Thought the same thing (that they weren’t much larger beam than the old one). And look at how they attach to the supports abs the transom. Some use lag bolts into the transom. Some were woefully thin on the places where supports attached. I wasn’t happy with any of the fixed aftermarket options.

I just visited the boat now that it is warming up and have an issue. My fresh water does not come on. No water at sinks or heads. I am guessing there is a main pump that has tripped. Anyone have any ideas on how to fix or where I should start looking?

i recall seeing a story of someone drilling the lazarette floor with a pilot hole to see if there was a way in . it was a fail, if I recall correctly. I think I read that you can get there without removing the water tank, just the genny (rotate it only needed). then you need to crawl or know someone who can. You can certainly see the ram if you peer in there. It would be a different boat risk wise if you find a way to make it not so almost impossible, look forward to your posts :)
See my post in the SportYacht thread, had meant to post in general maintenance thread, on 4/22/23.

Do you have dockside water? if so, pumbing is ok.
Does the pump run? if not electrical.
No water hooked up, just what’s in the tank. Didn’t hear any noise when faucets were turned on in kitchen or heads

Obvious questions: are the freshwater breakers on? Are you sure there’s water in the tank? If you flip the breakers on and have water ans turn on faucets, you should hear the pumps kick in. F you don’t, you’ll need to make sure voltage is getting to them. They are likely located starboard stern, astern of the water heater. But to the comment above: plug into shore water, turn off breakers, see if water flows through the system.

Hi Guys, I launched my boat for the new boating season yesterday! I wanted to see if you guys could help me with my sliding glass door. The chrome bar on the sliding door came out on the right side of the door. This means the door that doesn’t move is blocking me from getting to the screw to tighten it back down. Do you guys know how I can access the screw? Do I need to take the door off the track? Thanks in advance!

TRG - There are filters on the pumps. Mine look clean so I’ve never touched them , but if they were both blocked that might cause it , but you should still here a pump when you flick the breaker. Also unless you have checked/listened separately , one of the pumps could have died years ago and you might never find out until the 2nd one gives up

Remove screws holding black filler strip in top track. Slid out out filler strip. Lift and remove door.

Has Anyone out there replaced the over the air tv antenna on the boat? If so, what did you use and is it any better than the original one? Did you pull new coaxial cable? How does it run to the tv and the antenna gain selector? Thanks, Greg

im interested in the response to this , my tv reception is dodgy

I know Sideshift is mentioned many times in the forum but I never knew the instruction video for a transom install was on a 400DB, here it is , good watching

I replaced my Antenna really easily and used the gain that comes with this instead of the OLD Glomex gain controls.
My TV is mounting on the door to the cabinet on the Starboard side and the Coax is run to the arch. I have power there for the gain booster. It works REALLY well.

Thanks, I will take a look to see if I can get a new cable up there. That is the new antenna I was looking at. What size did you use? Greg
