40 sedan bridge forum

I will, thanks, I really love the boat and hate to see it go so I am having a hard time pulling the trigger on selling it but.....

Make sure you're sure. Then wait. Then make sure again. I have two different sets of friends that got out too soon. One set sold us our 400DB because she was ill, they missed it bought another 40 foot boat. The other set just misses it...

I appreciate the thought, she and I have been thinking all winter about it. I think it is time to let it go. Please tell your friends. Not listed yet, waiting for warm weather to wash and take pictures.

Bob what are some details on your boat, price, what is your location. We put ours under contract yesterday and had a few more looking that we turned away.

I plan to get the engine hours this weekend, I want to make sure I remember them correctly.
Boat is clean and kept in Tennessee on Kentucky lake (TN River). I bought it at Kentucky Dam 5 years ago with the intention of My wife and I traveling in it. I have gone through the boat adjusting and updating in order to get ready but then she had a stroke. Her recovery has been slow but very good. She has some mobility issues and climbing in and out of the boat is difficult, so she says she is through with boating. We have taken a few 2- and 3-day trips and it just too much for her.

The boat has a new transmission port side due to a submerged log strike and while it was out for that we did a bottom job, trued the props, replaced the zincs and a few other things. It has Garmin GPS. I put in a new synthetic hardwood floor which is a lot easier to clean than the carpet. Has Cat 3116s. I haven't listed with a broker yet as I was waiting for spring so I good give it a good washing before taking the pictures.

I forgot price, I discussed with a broker back during the winter and he thought a 97 400 is good shape would go for about $130,000.00

Here’s my accumulator tank stranded on the starboard far reaches spitting water . I’ll replace. May have to remove exhaust hose to get in there .

the 1 litre jabsco or seaflo or units have a T fitting instead of straight down like in my pic , I would block one side off of the T and create a junction or two to make it fit. Kind of messy.

It seems based on previous threads I should get a collection of 15mm and 1/2 inch npt fittings and adaptors so I have a selection immediately available when I’m playing Houdini . It looks like I already have a mix of the two gauges in the photo ?

Also I see some manufacturers make units without a t fitting but they tend to be larger and I don’t have much space. See the whale 2 litre pic. Any learned input is appreciated

Mine did the exact same thing. I tossed the accumulator and screwed a pressure gauge in it’s place so I could monitor pressure if I wanted. But just capping it off is fine, or replacing the T out of the far pump with an elbow. The Aqua King pumps I have don’t need an accumulator.

Thanks Bill. When a pump dies I’ll go your route but as accumulators are so cheap I’ll try that for now . I need to get right back there to check trim tab level anyway . Hurting my brain what adaptors I will need

So launched yesterday, started to fill the fresh water tank and have a leak in a hose to the fresh water pumps. Hooked up to the dock water through the regulator, the system is fine.

So how hard is it to get back there? Does the exhaust “tube” or hose have to be removed? Any tips?

I was filling my tank for commissioning today and noticed the bilge pump kicking in. Looked below and realized while I had un-bypassed the hot water heater i hadn’t closed the drain spigot on the heater. lol! My problem was easier to solve than yours.

You can get to the pumps. Helps to remove the gen battery and battery box. And stretch. But where does the hose go? To the tank? THAT access is a pain and may require removing the exhaust to get access. If so, that’s a job for the checkbook.

I think the location of my stuff being an early model is less accessible than many. To your point on the exhaust, My exhaust pipe is in two parts it has a joint about half way between the hull and the manifold. , is that too hard for diy to remove the front part which is easy to get to ?

lol. Yeah, I’m not going to do it. “I gotta guy”. Just want to understand what’s involved.

Just did mine today, end cap was leaking. I got two pieces of 3' x 6' x 3" thick foam rubber and laid over top of battery and water pumps and slid back in there, wasn't as bad as I thought it would be.

That’s comforting, thanks , I have a thick rubber mat ready to go, the kind you use to stand on for stand up desks. Did you find the oil pump out section an issue also? I don’t want to break it by putting weight on it. Is your stuff over on the starboard inside like mine or more sternwards as I think was on later models

has anyone change the salon speaker that have the cloth cover on them have one bad speaker thanks

You might want to use thick foam rubber as it cushins the oil pump out and everything else you'll be laying on plus its easier on you, now the down side I could only get one hand in there to get to things and use my other hand to hold on to tools over top of exhaust, mine was across from oil pump out.

Finished my new wall. We tried to match the wall vinyl and everything new was just too clean and shiny. So we went with a contrast. Center panel is on a piano hinge. It swings out to get at storage. For the new wood panel in the counter corner, I had saved my two fridge door panels when I replaced the fridge. Bottom panel was tall enough but not wide enough. So I used the top panel to finish it out. It’s actually three pieces of the veneer glued on there. Can’t see any of the seams even up close. I got samples from Restoration Marine and nothing was close. Sovereign Cherry was the correct print pattern but was far to light of a color. Now to buy the chair for under the TV.
