40 sedan bridge forum

We have a topper and it is ok but constantly shifting towards the foot of the bed. One more project someday to update with a better mattress. I hope we change boats before we make that investment though. I really want a walk around bed in a midship full beam cabin!

We did the custom cut foam once on our last boat. It didn't last very well and was never very comfortable. After purchasing one mattress for our 400DB I bought another for home, and then another for my son. Since then I've been a rep of sorts for the company. I can honestly say that the purchase of our mattress is probably the best upgrade money I've ever spent on our boat. $1500 (roughly) for a custom mattress was really a great deal and has made our time on board much more enjoyable. I wouldn't even think about it if we bought a new boat. I honestly would just replace it immediately! I highly doubt that the previous owner or original owner sprung for the factory upgrade that still can't compete with todays manufacturing. Plus, they're US made.

What was the brand / manufacturer for the mattress? We are looking at replacing ours this year.

It’s January and you know what that means! Boat upgrades. Started with an easy one today. Replacing the small abs poorly installed 20” TV in the salon with a 30” on a telescoping/locking mount. Really easy job; just had to relocate the bracing that was already in there. No harder than hanging one at home.

So my storage door is on the side in the 04 400SB... i have a 24 LCD, thinking about going to a 32 smart. I did a cardboard cutout and seems to fit. Has anyone else done a 32? This looks great!

I covered the whole "doghouse" on my 2000 400DB with a 40".

I put a 32 inch TV on my boat it covers almost the entire opening

I also have a 32 in TV there in the salon. Not many great pics of it.
Top right shows it a little. What does anyone use for an antenna? I’m not sure I want to spend $3000 on Tracvision because we don’t watch that much. It is a smart TV but I may just get an antenna to get local channels.

Don’t you have a Glomax or similar, powered by a switch next to the AC outlet on the port side above the sofa? Mine works fine for local channels, so no sat TV for us. The TV is a Roku smart TV, so with my hotspot, I stream if I want something more.

The previous owner removed my
Glomax when the installed their KVH. It hasn’t worked and KVH is not supporting the non HD models which is what I have. I stream a ton of things when I have WiFi but marinas don’t all have decent service.

I wonder if the wires for the Glomax are still there and all you need to do is install a new antenna? Are the controls gone, too?

Controls are gone. Wires are still there. Hence the curiosity about antennas Coop.. lol
You didn’t forget about my expertise in fishing wire did you? Lol

Nope! Just had my fingers crossed that you don’t have to! An $80 antenna and a control switch and you’re back in business!

It does work great. I updated the glomex this last summer and all locals come in in HD... its works fantastic. I get stations 60 miles away. Id just reattach a new antenna and a switch and call it a day.

Hi, what model did you install? Greg

I put this one on my 320DA: Imtra model # GXV9125/12AASY.

I'm not sure it's made any longer. It worked just fine. However, it was a 10" antenna and would probably look silly on a 400DB. I'd recommend something a little larger.

Thanks, I may just stay with the Glomax. Same wires. Greg

Speakers are all in, and it sounds absolutely amazing. Does not have to be loud, and most of the time is not. I made a few gunnel mods as well to tighten everything up, and all but eliminating any rattle. The base is very clean and tight. Pretty high tech with the application of a thick dynamat sound deadener material on each inside gunnel wall, and foam pool noodles that stiffen up either side, and act as a kind of shock absorber to the panel. 1/2" starboard spacers stiffen up the sub mounting points. Works really really well.
So on the bridge, (2) 10" subs, (2) 7.7" midrange components with separate tweeters, (4) 6.5"'s. The cockpit has (2) 7.7" components, and a 12" ported sub with enclosure in the ice maker storage under the stairs. All of it JL Audio with (3) amps totaling 2000 watts of clean RMS power, and (3) remote controls in addition to the main deck in the salon at the fly bridge, swim platform, and cockpit area in the side of the stair riser near the sliding door handle.

This looks fantastic! What head unit are you using? Did you have room to go with the 8.8's? or is the lack of room why you went with the 7.7's? What amps did you buy? Do you have any pictures of your amps hooked up? Did you think about or rule out the idea of using JL tower speakers to have music for those people swimming? (I was thinking about doing this - 4 pair's of 8.8's - One on the arch facing the water, one in the cockpit above the ice maker, and one in the bridge. I was also thinking about putting one in front of the dash facing the bow. I was also thinking about replacing the interior four speakers with JL 6.5's - Thoughts??) TIA
