340 SUNDANCER THREAD

i went ahead and bought two new frames for both cockpit storage doors....both had pieces of the powder coating missing....$90 each seems a little pricey but what the heck....it is a boat and we all know things for boats are not cheap...

just curious, what did it cost to have the frame stripped down and powder coated?

I've had plenty of motorcycle parts powdercoated in the past...I wouldn't expect something like that to cost much over $20 a frame.

Cliff,

I had the 3 done inside the cockpit and cost me $100.00 which is the minimum for the shop.

I am going to be removing the wipers tomorrow. I tried for a second today to get to the tab and its a PITA. The wiper arm only tilts up a inch or 2 and its difficult to get anything underneath to grab the clip. Any tricks?? Also will an auto parts place be able to replace the arms or do I need to special order?

Thanks!

I purchased my wipers from autozone.

Hey all. I am trying to find a replacement for the masthead/anchor light online and I am not having any luck. Mine is all weathered and I want to replace. Can someone point me in the right direction!

I found mine at West Marine.

The Searay 340DA uses a Perko Masthead Combo All Round Light 1181DP0CHR. $65-$75 for the entire assembly. If you are looking for a replacement bulb, then try MarineBeam.com. A 225 degree forward facing LED bulb is $20, and the 135 degree aft facing bulb is $10. I have been using these bulbs for 4 years now without issue.

last WE we removed all of the bedding from the V berth bed to give everything a good cleaning...i found a nice deep storage compartment in the front of the V berth between the HVAC unit and the anchor locker wall....since this storage compartment is not easily accessible i was wondering what to put in there...first thought was a spare anchor...what do you put in that storage compartment?...

We put in heavy things in that space when traveling, like water bottles and cans of soda. A spare anchor is not a bad idea, if you have one. We carry a small anchor for our dinghy, but need that more accessible. Weight in the bow is always good...

I keep my spare props in there - they just fit.

My light was looking pretty crappy as well so I bought the same LED bulbs from marine beam and then replaced my lenses for about 12 bucks. Light looks great now. These are the lenses you need.http://www.boatersland.com/pko0278dp0wht.html

Harold, do you remember the part numbers that you ordered?

Tom,

The MarineBeam Link to "Perko Atwood Hella 31mm Festoon LED Replacement Bulbs" is http://store.marinebeam.com/perko-atwood-hella-31mm-festoon-led-replacement-bulbs/. Choose the options located on the right to get the forward (225 degrees) and aft (135 degrees) facing bulbs. I chose the "Cool White", but would get the "Warm White" if I had to to it all over again just to keep everything looking more original.
The part number for the entire assembly is Perko 1184DP0CHR. Here is the link to the Perko site: http://www.perko.com/catalog/naviga...tion_masthead_&_white_all-round_anchor_light/. Perko sells an LED version http://www.perko.com/catalog/naviga...combination_masthead___white_all-round_light/. However, I prefer "Knot It"'s suggestion to replace the lenses instead of the entire assembly if the assembly is in decent shape.

I replaced all of the bulbs I use in an overnight anchorage with LED bulbs to reduce the current draw on the batteries. You can find LED replacements for your aft facing "running" light and the navigation bulbs on the same site. I can't remember the exact types and sizes for those bulb however.

i would like to increase the light in the engine room...when the 'Bilge Light' rocker switch on the dash panel is pushed i have a light on the transom wall and a light over the generator on the starboard wall of the ER illuminated....both lights have conventional incandescent bulbs....i was thinking about adding another light on the port side of the ER and maybe another new light about mid-way between the engines on the engine hatch....all lights would be controlled by the rocker switch on the dash....i could exchange the incandescent bulbs with brighter LED bulbs...has anyone added lights to the ER?...if so how did it work out?..

thanks..

I detailed ER lighting in my blog, but in a nutshell, I replaced the bulbs in the existing fixtures with high output LEDs. Then, I installed a flexible LED lightstrip around the entire circumference of the ER hatch opening. It is bonded in place to the underside of the deck, shining straight down. This strip is wired on the same circuit as the existing lights. My total amp draw is about the same as the original with the incandescent lights, but I have so much more light it's ridiculous. It's like daylight down there, and since the light comes from above, and from all around, there are no shadows anywhere - it's even bright under the engines, although some of that may be due to the fact that my ER is painted white now. See the blog for pics, and if you have any questions, let me know.
