260 Sundancer Thread.........Comments questions and answers

Any one with a 2011 260sda where do you store the table for the cabin? And do you have a sliding window for the aft birth? Mine doesnt

cabin table is stored under the front birth adjacent to the forward mirror

Forward Bilge Question,
I have a 2011 260 SDA and in the forward Bilge under the step I have a question from the group. There are two pumps, one is in a box with a hair strainer and another pump below the clear box. both the A/C drain and shower drain are piped into this clear box but they seem to be draining into the other pump via a third hole / pipe connection on the side of the clear box with pump. Question.. Is this the norm or should that third hole / connection be covered?
Thanks,
Dave

Since you have a newer model 260DA than I have I am not sure of your actual set-up but here is a picture of my sump box under the step. I don't see that other hose on the side of the box that you mention.

Each of the hoses on the sump box is marked to show what they do. Are yours marked and if so what does that other hose do?

We're thinking about doing an overnighter on the boat this weekend. Anyone else have to pop ibuprofen before, during and after sleeping in the V berth?

I want to lay down a memory foam topper to ease the aches and pains; I've read reviews online and it seems that even a 1.5" thick topper makes a big difference.

I'm going to make a Walmart run to see if I can't pick one up but I can't get down to the boat before I head out tomorrow to take measurements.

Does anyone know what the widest port to starboard dimension is in the 260 V berth?

A queen topper is only 60" wide but a King is 76".

I should have quoted this post from Hornblower in my earlier post. Unless its now too late, a queen size fits perfectly across the v berth. That is, sideways. The measurement from the port corner nearest the galley to the starboard corner under the hanging locker is just over 2m (say 78 inches), the same as the length of a queen. Also the straight run on the port side going forward is about 60 inches (before it curves in towards the bow) the piece you need to slice off the foot of the topper on the starboard side will fit in the bow area and you will still have excess. Our 2 1/2 inch topper does not obstruct the locker opening either.

I think it is time to contact Sea Ray customer service. Although a suprise to me, that particular hatch may be like the windshield glass assemblies, as in, the parts have to be ordered by Sea Ray but it is a special order for Sea Ray to order them from Taylor Made. Also, if this is the case, you will have to place the order through a Sea Ray dealer which may get complicated since you are in Turkey.

My advice would be to contact Sea ray customer service first. If you find out this is something they can indeed order for you special from TM, through a dealer, then you can start searching for a dealer to order through.

i sent an emai lto Sea Ray CS and they helped me to contact and find the part from TM , after TM is shipped the part as soon as possible and cheaper price than MARİNEMAX ,

thanks Sea Ray customer service and Taylor Made

Hello 260 Owners:

I am about to pull the trigger on a 2007 260 Sundancer. Under 100 hours, very clean, mechanicals are all in excellent shape and priced right. The problem is the hull color - Cinnabar. I am having a hard time drinking it pretty and I have tried. If only it were any other color...

Has anyone had their 260 painted and if so, were you happy with the results? I am guessing it's about a $3,000 face lift???

Thanks for any opinions/input.

Doc:

Make sure you get the color you like.....it wont get prettier the longer you own it.

I would recommend against painting over the Cinnabar (or any color) on the 260. Are there no other 260's near you of the color you like? I had to look for a while to find black but we are very happy with our choice.

Good luck.

Kendall:

There are others in white or blue, however, they are a model year or two older, have twice to three times the hours and more apparent wear. This boat is almost factory fresh for the same $$$.

What are the issues with painting?

Thanks

If I were in your shoes I would keep on looking until you get a hull color you like or buy one of those other boats you looked at and put a few dollars into one of them making it look pristine.

Painting a boat would be my last resort. If the boat has bottom paint, keep in mind the current hull color is also under the bottom paint. To do a proper paint job, all of Thru-Hull fittings, Decals, and Emblems need to be removed first. The rub rail should also be removed. At least three or four inches of the bottom paint should be removed off the sides and new bottom paint put on when finished. I would only consider using a paint like Awlgrip and I wouldn't trust just anybody to put it on either. I would want someone familiar with the process.

I have a 2001 260 Sundancer and was wondering what brand and size generator I need to be looking for?

Totally agree.
Paint is a last resort.
We looked for 3 months before finding a color that the Admiral wanted..Pewter. Bought it in Iowa and trailered it home.
Dont settle. You will find what you want.

Thanks for all the input. The decision was pretty easy after negotiating price - it pays not to be emotionally attached to something before you buy.

Cinnabar it is... for the moment...

It's nice to be back on the water!

Thanks, spoke to mechanic, they slightly screwed up the install. They are to fix their bobo.

For anyone who's added teak flooring to swim platform, cockpit, head etc. Was it DIY, online order, or did you have someone do it? Any details you could share would be great.

I am guessing this has been answered somewhere along the way, but has anyone increased the tab size on their 260 sundancer '05 to '08. I have heard that it makes a huge difference on other boats Also wondering about drop fins on this model. I've owned boat for less than a season and getting more accustomed to quirks but still don't feel as relaxed as I'd like. Thanks
