230 SLX Thread!

Don't get me wrong, I really like it...just need to get used to it. Yes, the hole shot is pretty great on it. I'm always trimmed all the way down out of the hole (old habits die hard), and start clicking up. I used the smart craft digital gauge for the trim, and went I went upmto about 2.0 seemed to notice a bit of ventilation? Again, I just need to get used to it. About the noise, I do like the sound of a V8 (one of the things I love about my Durango!), but it was the other noises - glad to know you have the whine also, I'll not worry about it. Regarding the dealer, well, I've really enjoyed working with them (there has been the need for some post delivery "clarifications"), but I definitely questioned the "newness" of this boat upfront and often - if you recall, I was originally planning on a custom order. So this was most certainly discussed.

Oh, about the blue plugs - they just unscrew (twist), right?

Yeah, they just unscrew. One thing to remember is that they have o-rings on them. You'll see when you get them off. So always check to make sure that they are there before you put the plug back in because it will leak if the o-ring is missing.

You also have to be careful not to cross-thread them since the threads are plastic and will damage easily. Since they have an o-ring seal you just need to snug them down, no need to get crazy.

Oh, one more question - do I need to drain the outdrive, other than having it trimmed down all the way? Water dribbled out. Keep in mind, I might have a night or two of high 20s or low 30s to worry about, and I'm stored in a metal storage garage.

Thanks for the feedback!

You should just be fine with lowering the outdrive. I used to leave my 185 in my boat lift at my last house and I never had any issues with weather down into the teens.

If you're worried about it, you could always go to Lowe's or Home Depot and buy a "brooder lamp" for some heat.

I put one of these bulbs: http://www.lowes.com/pd_181165-3-14...qty_sales_dollar|1&page=1&facetInfo=Heat lamp

into one of these: http://www.lowes.com/pd_203219-1373...L=?Ns=p_product_qty_sales_dollar|1&facetInfo=

and put it into my engine compartment for some heat during the cold parts of the winter.

You'd think the ease of taking video with an iPhone would mean a nicely documented maiden voyage. Uh, no:

I won't be pursuing a second career making documentaries!

Here's a hole shot video of a 230 SLX video with the Dynamic Running Surface:

Well, I knew this day would come. While I *love* my boat, black wasn't my first color choice but I definitely liked it and the deal was hard to pass up. I was going to special order mojave tan with a white arch, and .... here it is! Really like this combination!

Had a great first season with my SLX, fourteen outings, and over 80 hours. Not bad for a drought year, huh? Water levels are low, and while we can still launch things are so crowded that it's not worth dealing with the morons. Plus, I'm exhausted and ready for a break! Washed and waxed today, and put away for the winter hibernation (actual winterization is in early October). Man, I don't know how you guys who slip all summer handle that end-of-season cleaning. I pulled mine out every weekend (I have told the marina they can rent out my slip for the rest of the year) and wash it, but by the end of the summer she was in need of a major detailing!

Absolutely no regrets on getting this boat!

I haven't given up hope that we will be able to take ours out at least one more time this season. Between bad weather, vacation, and an extremely hectic schedule we were only able to put about 25 hours on our 230 SLX this year.

Awesome pics! It really did bum us out that we weren't able to get out much this year. It rained like crazy over here for nearly 4 weeks straight......just enough of a threat of rain each day to keep us from going out.

I knew these boats were beasts, but pulling 3 wakeboarders at the same time!!!!!!!!!! How did you get them all up?

Sweet. Mine doesn't have the Smart Tow (I enviously read your thread about adding it, lol), but I know it will pull someone up lickety split.

We haven't tried multiple wakeboarders. Might have to give that a try with the boy and one of his buds.

I pulled my wife up on skis with ours with 6 adults and 3 kids (8-13 yrs old) in the boat, and it pulled her up so quickly I just couldn't believe it. All that weight made for a pretty gnarly wake though.....not too good for skiing, but would have been awesome for wakeboarding.

Glenn, those pics are totally rad! I don't think I can get three up at once, that's quite a feat, more so for the boarders. Really cool to see, major points for that post.

Glad you like the pictures! I rarely take pics, or use the GoPro...and a guest on this particular weekend is a professional videographer, and she had some fun experiementing. The camera was strapped to my chest for a single ski run, so we'll see how that turns out! :)

And 2xsl, get the dang Smart Tow! If I can install it, anybody can. Facetime me when you're doing it and I'll talk you through it! LOL

Some awesome pics there Glenn, congrats on your great first season with the new boat!!

NorCal did you tow everyone off the tower? Some towers are only made to tow one person and ive wondered if the factory towers can tow more?
