230 SLX Thread!

Hey quick question, I am looking at getting a 2015 230 SLX, but the one question I couldn't get an answer on was how tall the boat was, trailered, with the tower folded down. I know depending on the trailer it could change, but how tall is yours?

I have an 8ft door to store it in my barn, and that is a deal breaker.

Look up your owners manual on line and it will give you the measurements to all. That is where I found mine.

I'm new to boat ownership. I was gonna wait a couple years, but I couldn't pass up the deal on my 210 SLX. Wish I had the 230, but at least I can fit this one in my garage, barely.... Anyway all this talk about running with the trim a few clicks up makes me think I'm doing something wrong... I thought you were supposed to run with trim all the way down to prevent damage??

5.0 with the Bravo III...from Sun Country Marine, right? Did you get the full hull red one with white interior...or the black one? :) I purchased my 230, which just wrapped up its second season. While I'm not an engineer who designs boats...the need to vary the trim pertains to hole shot (trim down) to best running attitude for speed and efficiency. I rarely trim up more than a few clicks, but I'm rarely going over 32 mph. Post pictures of the new boat!

Hey Folks!

I thought I'd swing by to see if anybody has purchased the *new* 230! I really like the new interior features and sunpad/transom design, but am still getting used to the blockier exterior design - which I'm sure was reqired for the increased interior space...

Had a short season last year, but our lake is FULL this year, and we're really looking forward to a good summer.

Brought the boat out of storage today to fill it up with (fresh) gas, so we are offcially ready to go!

I just bought a brand new leftover 2015 230 SLX. I couldn't see spending the $ on the 2016. I got a great deal on 2015. I can't wait to put her in the water.

I'll be making that long walk out to the shop this weekend to get mine ready to go!

So it's killing me. Does anyone have the 2015 with 350 mag? if so what does that run for a top end? I'm guessing @53 mph or so...

Unless you have the Dynamic Running Surface option it should be the same as any '12-'15 with the 350MAG/Bravo3 combo, right? Well, the tower option might have an aerodynamic drag impact. BoatTest.com did a review at model launch, which can be found on YouTube. If I recall, it was around 53mph. Personally, I've never run mine past 38 or 40 as I've never been a "top speed" boater. Take yours out and let us know...

Looks great. I'm envious of you guys that can trailer your boats. My 270 is too heavy to pull with any vehicle that I have, which means all detailing, service, and maintenance have to be done at the dock.

You and that damn workshop garage. Ruuuuuuuuuuuuuuuude! Ha!

Ha! Took her out for a spin today. She really needs a good detailing, got pretty dusty over the winter.

One odd thing I noticed is that I had a hard time threading the winterizing drain plug into the thermostat housing. Almost looks like the threads are stripped a little. I actually had to use a set of pliers to screw the plastic plug in.

The googling I did showed that those plugs are 1/2-13 NC threads. Can anybody confirm that? Reckon I should buy a tap and chase them?

Well I ordered a 1/2 -13 NC tap off of Amazon for $5 and used it to chase the threads. That is the correct size to use. Removed just a little bit of crud from the threads (didn't appear to even remove any metal) and now the plug screws in and out easily by hand. No clue what happened, but everything works fine now. Problem solved!

Have any of you found a ski mirror that works well? I had a nice one that clamped to the windshield rail on my 185, but the rail on my 230 is too wide for it to work.

I just put a deposit down on a 2015 230 SLX. 350 Mag/ BravoIII, two-tone gelcoat, bimini, seadek, a couple other options. New with 3 hours. They are changing the impeller and the oil before I take delivery tomorrow. Any other pointers I should know about for the delivery process? Thanks! I look forward to contributing to this thread.

So far so good. I've put about 13 hours on it in the last week, trying to get up to 20 and the oil change before winterization. Two problems so far: steering angle sensor doesn't work, and the power steering pump has a leak or a huge bubble. I've put in almost a quart of fluid. No noise, but the steering is occasionally stiff and/ or sticky. Any thoughts appreciated before I involve the dealer.

Not sure if anyone still follows this thread, been awhile since last post. Anyways, I took my 2014 out yesterday for first time this season. Put are drinks and some food in the cooler under back seat with two bags of ice. Launched, had about a 20 min ride to our spot. By the time we got there ice was just about gone. We have always been able to get through the day with ice in that cooler. Noticed later on that there is now a big gap between the bottom of the seat and top of the cooler. It seems like the wood in the seat has warped. Any body else had an issue with this? The seat still slides under the engine cover like it is supposed to and does not look off from the top (as in sitting on it). Any thoughts on a fix would be appreciated.

I have a 2012, but if your seats are like mine they are on "double jointed" hinges. I have had a few times where I didn't return the seat to position properly.

Usually when that happens you can just lift up the front (fore) portion of the seat on both sides and scoot it back into place.

One other thing I did was to buy a rubber stopper to plug the drain. That keeps the water in there as the ice melts and seems to help keep drinks cooler.
