220 Sundeck Thread - Questions and Answers

I fell asleep once in the back lounger also. I woke up covered in fish flies....nasty!

I am looking into having a bow tent made as well as a custom bow filler cushion. I think it would be more practical to sleep up front. I have also thought about removing the captains chairs and putting an air matress or some foam down and sleeping there. The main issue is that you will not have access to the head. I am 100% sure that one person could sleep between the captains chairs, but most likley not two.

Perfect i wil wait for your pics and would also like to know if someone has ever tried to sleep in a 220 ... If yes how did they set up their mattress

If you can post pics of what a bow tent would look like ... If you ever found one on another boat or a sundeck i would be interested to take a look

And daredevil i just wanted to see where you instaled your led lights and what it looked like in the dark

I had this custom made for our 240 Sundeck. It makes for a great place to sleep with the filler cushions. I do not know the size differences of the bows between the 220 and 240.

This bow tent looks really nice but i wonder if there would be enough space in a 220 bow .. How much does it worth

Just started to clean the boat during the past weekend and i saw that there was an aux input on my factory clarion cd receiver and i wonder if i could plug an ipod or mp3 to this aux port

I am new to this site. Ijust bought a 2003 sundeck 220 with the 6.2 BIII. Love the looks.Haven't had the boat out yet since we are in MN. Hopefully soon. What kind of performance can I expect out of this boat with the 6.2 in it? I have been reading that I should see 55-60MPH. Also, how is the factory stereo speakers. I know someone who works for JL Audio that can get me upgraded speakers for a good price but if the speakers are decent, I won't spend the money.

Thanks

Welcome to CSR. I have the same boat except they no longer offer the 6.2L so I only have the 350 MAG BIII. I can break 50 MPH most any day. I think I saw 55 one particular day. With the additional 20 HP, you may be able to add 1-2 MPH to your top end depending on what pitch prop you pave.

My boat has the stock Clarion system in it. I felt that the bass was lacking, so I opted to add a powered sub woofer. I think that the stock head unit could use a little more power, so I am considering adding an amp to power the speakers. If I do, it will truly test the quality of the factory speakers. I am pretty sure they are also Clarion. If I were you, I would add a 10-12" powered sub, get a nice set of JL speakers and maybe and a 4 channel amp. Heck, tell your friend to get me a set as well :)

Enjoy your new boat. You are going to love it!

Jim,

Do you have a pictur of your bow tent from the front? I would like to see how they tackled the anchor locker area. Do you know how long your bow loungers are on your boat? If I remember, you guys have an extra foot or so. Just wondering if it's worth it to put one in on my 220 SD.

Thanks surfinjoe for the info. The props are the factory counter dual rotating props. I will see what I can get this equipment for. I will most likely replace the head unit so I can plug the Ipod into it. I was looking at replacing all the 6.5 drivers, adding a 10" sub and possibly a 5 channel amp with a built in crossover. I will also add a second battery. I will be doing mostly trailering so hope this boat is easy to take off and on trailer. I have a shorelander trailer with bunks.

I will also be pulling my kids with the tube. Hope it doesn't give too much of a wake for them.

Thanks again

Scott, you CAN use the aux port for ipod/iphone. Just did the same myself on a CMD3 if that's what you have.

I was pleasantly surprised with the sound of the stock clarion speakers, once I added the amp and subwoofer to my setup. I had every intention of replacing the stock speakers with either JL Audio or Alpine 6'5" coaxials but I no longer feel this will be necessary. Now if I can only figure out how to remove the left front speaker grill- it's installed sideways. I've messed with it for about 30 minutes and I can't get the tabs to disengage. I know it's supposed to twist off but no luck so far.

Can someone post pictures of amp installation in a 220 wonder if you can connect the amp directrly to the fuse pannel in the storage area or if you have to ron new bigger gauge power cable from the battery to the amp... Also still waitng for pictures from surfingjoe mods or any other mods especially subwoofer and amp installAtion and gas grill install on 220si

Got the boat fired-up last weekend. I will try an take some pic's today after work. I did not install my grill, just have a portable one that is SS. Pretty nice and was only $60 at Lowes.

As far as the amp goes, It would depend on the size you are tying to add. I hooked my 100W sub woofer amp to the fuse box under the helm. No issues here. If I added a 4 channel amp, I would want to consider running a dedicated power line.

Hey pchansen really nice looking and clean install so did you run your power cables directly to the battery or just to the fuse panel and what is the power of this amp in watts

Also have one more question to all 220 owner i would like to know if the oem speakers are clarion and how many watts are theu rated ... Cause mine look like oem but i looked at the back of the one located under the sink and ist written panasonic and its rated 150 watts just wondering if i already have upgraded speakers

I ran the cables directly to the house battery. The amp has a 70 amp fuse built in to it and I added a Kicker 50 amp fuse (already had it) on the battery side of the cable run. The amp is rated at 380 watts RMS. I'm sure it would peak much higher than this.

I'll check the OEM speakers tomorrow when I get home.

Could you take pictures from the rear of subwoofer and amp installation and where did you ran your cables to get to the head unit would also like to know brand and make of subwoofer and amp thanks a lot ... I was thinking you had some other mod to take pictures of ... Led light and cooler ...
