220 Sundeck Thread - Questions and Answers

This may sound silly... but I am still trying to figure my boat all out. I just bought a 2005 220 SD and I cannot find the 12v plug anywhere? Do they come stock... or do I have to add it?

Reach down into your side pocket at the helm and feel along the forward bulkhead. It's recessed so standing up you would not be able to see it. If you don't feel anything but blank wall then you many not have gotten that option and you will need to contact your dealer to have it installed. It's a pretty easy install, they will drill a hole there and run the wires to your electrical box under the helm or you can even do it yourself if you feel like getting all twisty.

yup. look in the little storage area under the throttle. if you have it, it's on the forward most wall in that little storage area.

Found it. Actually figured it out when looking at the fuse panel to figure out where I could wire in the other i bought. Fuse said receptacle... so I knew there had to be one. Went on a hunt and found it right where you said it was. Thought about putting one somewhere else for guests in the boat. Gotta have that cell phone charger :)

Any suggestions or stories on factory speaker replacment? Figured a speaker replacment will go a long way to improving the sound quality of my system. Fixing to install Kicker 5 channel to drive two subs and the 6 1/2s. Figured I will need to replace them. What has everyone else tried/used to this point?

Hi All. Just joined the site. Does a 1992 24' bowrider count? It's my 3rd year with this boat and i love it. What's not to love? I boat on the south shore of Long Island. Perfect boat

Well this is my first posting but I have been lurking for a while now and finally found the offical 220 Sundeck Thread! The 220 SD crowed does not post much, what gives? :)

Hey Native - you have the same boat I do. Haven't seem many postings from 2010 owners - love the sunpad they added in.
I just bought mine last month - left over end of season deal thing. So I wont even get to take it out 'till spring - gonna be long winter here in MA. I actually have a ton of questions, mostly relating to my migration from outboard to I/O realm. Will probably start posting more in the winter when I get really itchy.
Anyway, glad I got the 2010 instead of waiting - they started getting in some 2011's in, and I don't like the interior color as much, and also the higher price tag.

Well we have all hashed out pretty much all of the few bugs that we have had with the 220. Made modifications and with little that has gone wrong we spend more time boating than posting.

I have a 2004 220 SD in addition to my 330 DA (do I have Elevenfootitis?) Anyway, I just had it serviced by my new marina, whom I trust, and they charged me $125 for a lower unit lube job because they said it looked black and smelled burnt. I only used the boat 15 hours since I had the lower unit pulled and serviced at the end of last season. Did they make a mistake, is there a problem with the boat or is this common? Thanks!

Hey Jdr... We got ours last February during the Dallas, TX Boat show. It was the one on the floor and they gave me a deal I just could not walk away from. Now that the season is over, I need to take it in to have a few minor items fixed that popped up during the season and get it ready for it's winter nap. Do enjoy the boat, but I do wish I had looked at the next size up or the cruisers more. I will have to write all winter... "no... you can not get a bigger boat... no.... you can not get a bigger boat... " Yet, :)

I have the 5.0L with Bravo 3. I think burnt gear lube after 15 hours sounds odd.

A new 220 Owner here, and a newbie to boating!
Just bought a late 06 220 Sundeck with the MAG 350 and Bravo 3 with 80 hours on it. First plans are to change the stereo to a fusion head unit/Ipod USB dock and then look at the speakers!
It has both tables, Camper covers, a Navman trackfish 6500 and the cd stacker as the fitted optional stuff!

Cant wait to get the hours up on it!

Any advice on C Map cards? It currently has one for Western Australia and not Eastern Australia - Can you do find the maps available on the net? or do i have to buy a new card

My gear lube after 50 hours still looks clear. This sounds like a bad outdrive to me.

Fortunately, you're not a surveyor. I called the mechanic back and he said he meant black and did not mean burnt. I asked him if I should worry and he said he wasn't. Plus, they charged me $95 to change it. At that rate, I'd write burnt too:grin:

Big difference between black and burnt :)

I would moniter it this season and see what happens. The Bravo III's take a lot of lube. My dealer charges $129, but that includes full outdrive service (engine alignment, lube grease fittings, adjust gimble bearing).

Changing the drive oil is not that hard and neither is checking it. DIY will save you a few bucks.

I get mine changed each year with the annual service and it stays pretty clear.

Best regards
