220 Sundeck Thread - Questions and Answers

Welcome to the Club! You'll love it! I just purchased my 05 last month and the weather has been too lousy to use it. I added an on board charger and second battery for just the stereo and add ons. Grills are a pain in the butt! I like the http://www.cobbamerica.com/ No hassles no mess no FUSS!! I got mine new on eBay for $70

Everyone usually goes with the Clarion Marine Stereos they really stand up and do a great job. My Stock one sounds really good. http://www.crutchfield.com/g_221050/Marine-Receivers.html?o=m&tp=1721
I'm adding a Clarion transom Stereo Remote this weekend with the iPod Charger cable and the RCA jack adapter. My Clarion Model only has the AUX input its the model before the ipod interface,Figures!

Thank you so much for a speedy response Ctseray.

Great information, I guess I need to figure out what Clarion deck I have so I can see how to hook up an Ipod or remote control. By the way that blue 05 in you avatar is beautiful.. Wish I could afford an 05. I'll post pic this Saturday..

Go on Ebay and save a ton of cash going that way, you can get a Clarion Stereo a year or two old production brand new at a 1/3 the cost.

Thanks She's a PEACH,

Would you happen to know the difference from the 05 and 03 sundeck clarion stereos? I have tried to find out what model my 03 have with out having the boat. I would love to add the ipod input on mine this weekend seeing how if the weather is good this is going to be a long weekend. Also what is the stereo transmon remote ? I thought the boats came with a way to control the stereo from the cockpit dash. Basically do i need to order what you have and where do i get it from. I will order tonight provided I can hook it up myself.

Thanks

Most of the time you do have a dash remote control. The Transom remote allow you to control the stereo from the swim deck/Transom area. Some of the newer 06+ I think even allow you to control the stereo and smart craft from the steering wheel.

Oh I see, thanks, Not ready for that yet, thought the transom tilt sounds like a feature to have.

Sure Arm Grab a pic of the stereo in it. Should be no problem figuring it out.

Sounds like a mod I might need too! What did you guys use for switch for it? Got any pics?

Does you battery switch have a position for both on it? I use A for starting and B for the radio when at anchor.I put it on both when running to charge both batteries. This is how I was told to use the battery switch when I did my captains delivery.

I am not sure as i won't have my boat until Saturday. I do know it has two batteries and the switch for both. I just don't know the use sequence. What you are saying make sense though..

I haven't used a battery switch yet. Right now I have the second battery being charged only by the guest charger at the end of the day. I'm RARELY out over night. But I'm thinking I should re-think my set up.

If you don't have a I-pod go with the simple RCA jack adapter. It's available cheap from Over-ton's, around $15.00 for the cable and external jack with cover. Our stereo's should be the same, it was simple plugging the RCA plugs in. I got the marina to drill the hole and install the plug in the dash above the right hand control panel. That way I can lay my Zune in the pocket under helm and plug it into the 12 volt power plug. The custom install cost me more than if I had just drilled a hole in the star board next to the radio, but hey it really looks great! I will post some pictures after this weekend.

Sounds simple enough. My plan is to get my boat Saturday and have some type of Ipod connectivity for the weekend since it is a three day weekend for me... Will post pictures when I get it, man Saturday seems so far away:smt009

Can't get any pictures until Saturday.. I plan on having some type of Ipod connection by then ie: another deck or a cable..

I thought I'd represent and bump the 220 Sundeck thread back up to the top. Here's my '04 220 Sundeck, the Haddam Swing Bridge, and a full moon at sunset.

I have the entire enclosure, I just did not have the back 3 pieces and we got soaking wet. Of course most of the time we sat in the water because it was warmer than the rain.

All I have is the top...which does nothing during a rain storm. I had my wife, and my 1 & 3 year old girls huddled up in the bow with the bow cover on the last time we got caught in a down pour. I jumped in the river to avoid getting wet. :)
