220 Sundeck Thread - Questions and Answers

I put the subwoofer amp next to the head unit. The nice thing is that the RCA cables hook directly into the head unit, making for a very easy installaiton. I will take some more pic's this weekend. As you can see in the pic, my sub and amp are Kenwood. For me, the price was right (around $100). I don't have the need to blow anyone's face off, just wanted better quality sound.

Af far as pic's of the LED's go, I need to take them when it's dark. I will try to do that as well this weekend. I also have the 'evil eyes' LED's on the stern cowel. My cooler is somewhere in my garage. When I locate it, I will take pic's as well.

Could you take pictures from the rear of subwoofer and amp installation and where did you ran your cables to get to the head unit would also like to know brand and make of subwoofer and amp thanks a lot ... I was thinking you had some other mod to take pictures of ... Led light and cooler ...

Here is a picture of my subwoofer. It's basically the same position as Surfinjoe's. I cut the hole with a rotozip tool with a circle cutting attachment. Also, you can see the aft cockpit light that I replaced with a blue LED sourced here: http://www.ledlight.com/SearchResult.aspx?KeyWords=84634. You'll need two bulbs- one for the bow and one for the stern. Also, you need the BA15D base.

You need to select the "BA15" base from the drop down menu.

Cheers!

Any cutting/wiring/installation involved with that swap, or does the new LED just plug into the same socket that the white cockpit light was in? I'm thinking about swapping out those two white cockpit lights for red so I'll have mix of red and blue. Or more likely swap em all out for red for better night vision.

I don't think Overtons has the camper canvas. Try greatlakesboattop.com

They made the factory canvas and camper top.

any word on the wires or sockets, or are the bulbs plug and play? LED's in general draw less power so i assume the housings wont overheat or melt. am i correct?

Also looking for a led stern light (aft light - the long pole for night) want to get a brighter more bluish looking one.

Is that bulb replaceable? If not does anyone have any good sites where i can get an upgrade for the rear light.

thanks again all :) .

Guys,

While we are on the subject of stereo upgrades, has anyone added speakers to the helm area? While underway music is prety tough to hear due to speaker placement.hinking of trying to add some 3 1/2s somewhere...

Daredevil look for the jport to connect your ipod or any other mp3 to your oem clarion head unit if its a xmd3 just plug the jport in the red rca cables and then you can play it on the aux source ... Cheap and marine designed ... Also could someone chech if the oem speakers in the 220 are panasonic rated 160 watts and could someone take pictures oh the rear of subwoofer to see how much place it takes and also is it a tough jjub to run power cables from the battery to the head unit for amp installation

I just took out the bot for its first ride last week end and noticed that the green light that is suppose to light near the ignition key to tell that the fire extinguishing system is working doesnt light up has anybody ever experienced trouble with this system .... also i'm wondering how does the toilet works (sanipotie) what is the top speed i should expect with a 5.0 mpi and bravo 3 outdrive

hey guys, still looking for some more info on whether if the bulbs in the courtesy lights are plug and play or if i need to change the wires..... LED's in general draw less power so i assume the housings wont overheat or melt. am i correct?

I am also looking to upgrade my stern light (aft light - the long pole for night) want to get a brighter LED more bluish looking one.

Is that bulb replaceable, or do i need to get a whole new light? does anyone have any good sites where i can get an upgrade for the rear light.

Thanks again.

As long as we're on the subject - any stats on GPH and/or MPG for that engine?
I saw some test results on BoatTest.com, but they were for 220's with bigger engines.
I'm rarely dropping below 10 GPH when in the 30 MPH area (I think - or was it a little faster or slower!), but still in break in period with only about 4 hours on the engine. But I think I'm peaking at around 3 MPG which I imagine is pretty normal especially during break in and conditions (ocean/wind/chop).

I really wish there was MPG on the system tach - it knows GPH and MPH. Why can't it do that last little bit of math for me!!

I wonder if someone ever had a good idea to keep the bimini stainless frame quiet ... Because mine is kind of loose and when it shake it makes sound like if it was gonna fall apart so i thought about putting some rubber o ring on each side of the screw but i just wanted to ask on the forum to see if anybody had the same problem and found a better way to fix it

do you have to unscrew the dash assembly to do this, or can you go behind the helm where the ice cooler is stored and acces the light panel from there? any word on an upgraded stern led bulb? the halogen one looks so out dated IMO.
