Launch yesterday with a bone dry bilge. I almost always have some bilge water. I got it all dried out over winter. Really proud of myself. This morning I fill water tank, run water thru system checking for any pipes that might have ice broke over winter, but i hear a noise in bilge.
I forgot to close the drain spigot before filling!!! Water pouring out of water heater! There went my nice dry bilge for the season.

Sorry, but that should go in the funny chit thread. :)

I drove up north on Thursday to check out the boat and talk to the marina. I had posted earlier that I broke my wrist April 6th and had the surgery April 13th, so had to delay my launch till I was healthy enough to do the pre-launch stuff, including replacing plugs, wires, rotors and caps. I had let the marina know. They had taken care of putting my canvas back on, which was nice of them. Well, for the first time in 25 years, I decided to let the marina do all the prep and launch for me as well as the ignition parts work. They dewinterize it and will put my boat in the slip and set up the shorepower and charger this week coming. I wont be able to buff for a while though so she will be the marina ugly ducking for a month or so.

Yes it should.

I had some comedy today myself, if you can call it that. As I always do, I lifted my float switches after hooking up the batteries yesterday...all was well.

I went down in the ER today to check on my new packings and noticed more water in the foward bilge well than usual. Lifted the switch and popped the breaker.

I took the pump out and couldn't turn the impeller with pliers. Damn thing worked 22 hours prior.

Exact replacement pump on Amazon for $47 bucks, but couldn't wait 4 days with no pump so I got hosed at the local marina instead.

One boat buck and a stiff back later and I can sleep tonight.

Next?

You wont sleep. Youll be up all night wondering is you repaired everything right. Or overlooked anything. Like closing the water heater drain valve.

@Pirate Lady, for a variety of reasons, I decided to go home today instead of continuing my stay on the boat. Good thing I did. The pipe on the house side of the water meter sprung a leak and I came home to a basement full of water. Luckily, I found a plumber who lives nearby to execute the repair….
There went my nice dry basement.

And as of yesterdays adventure wasn’t enough, my 88 year old mother has fallen today and we are currently in the emergency room. I think she broke he left ankle and May need surgery.

I hope that fulfills your "It Comes in Threes", at least for a while. Praying for your mom.

Heading to the boat today and see what's going on. My boat neighbor is going in tomorrow so I'll have my parking spot back. That means I can get my golf cart over. Hoping I can get my new anchor and rode swapped out while mine is still inside so I can keep the batteries on the charger while I'm swapping. Then it can go out and get the bottom painted. Once that's done, I'm ready.

Truly sorry to hear that. They repair slow at that age, take care of her. Boats dont matter compared to that.

You have weddings, break stuff and give birth in the winter months…. Geez you had 6 months to get it right
Out of my four kids…. My favorite is my daughter who made me pay for a wedding in Florida during the winter and had a kid a year later in February ….. she always has a free pass on the boat
