2023 Splash!

Maiden voyage with my son this weekend, out to Boston Light. Normally I don't use the radio under way, but he wanted to hear how it sounds. First song to come up on Pandora? The name of the old boat

I love my new full length slip. Washed the whole port side without having to get on boat. Tied it tight to pier, was able to scrub better than i could standing on boat. Sparkling! Tomorrow I will turn it around and do starboard side. Ignore the junk on pier, it all went to dumpster yesterday.
On a side note, getting real good with new pistol on my in house range.

Bottom painted today. Vc17m.... What a process. It'll turn black once it's in the water. View attachment 144035
I was at Belle Maer for 3 years I think.... I never stored there but was always intrigued on how they block a boat.... I am surprised they still do it the same way under new ownership

You have weddings, break stuff and give birth in the winter months…. Geez you had 6 months to get it right
Out of my four kids…. My favorite is my daughter who made me pay for a wedding in Florida during the winter and had a kid a year later in February ….. she always has a free pass on the boat
Priorities....But you paid for the whole wedding?? I paid for the rehearsal dinner and half the wedding plus the bar bill for my son.

Adders to the wedding bill. If Grandma were still here she would love the Bourbon Brownies From Church Hill Downs. Holly sheep dip batman, Oh I digress. My Bad.

You only pay for girls… I think I did pay for the rehearsal dinner for my son
My friends who have had sons get married over the last couple years have had a similar experience as me, at the very least the "new tradition" is the groom picks up the wedding bar tab. Seems this generation is more fair minded... In my son's case, his future in-laws had $X to split between their 3 daughters. Whatever we didn't pick up my son and DIL would have had to pay. The Admiral would not hear of it. Nor would she hear anything about them doing the wedding on a shoe string budget...Sooo, I wrote checks. I'll probably have to do the same for my youngest.

Two girls here and both professionals. Gave them both a generous fixed budget and said whatever you don't spend is yours and whatever you overspend is your dime.

One went over and the other under. I never sweated a day during the planning other than preparing my speeches.

BTW, seeing all these cleaned up mid-2000 Sea Rays getting splashed makes me really miss my boat for the first time.

I did get the fishing boat out for the first time yesterday on a flat calm Lake Huron. Cheboygan, MI. South Channel Straits of Mackinac. Even caught a few trout. Water temperature is a toasty 39°.View attachment 144068 View attachment 144069 View attachment 144070 View attachment 144071
Play dough, is that near Duncan Bay? I really like the area. Last time up there, we took the dinghy from Duncan Bay Boat Club over to near the state park. I wish I had spent some time around the sunken ferry with my dive gear.

Photo 1 = Cheboygan River Mouth. (Duncan Bay would be to the right of the river mouth)

And as of yesterdays adventure wasn’t enough, my 88 year old mother has fallen today and we are currently in the emergency room. I think she broke he left ankle and May need surgery.
Ugh, sorry, this happened to my mom 4 years ago. I show up at her apartment "Greg I think I did something to my ankle..." She is going blind so she can't see it. I look down, see the bone sticking out, blood dripping, almost puke and say "Mom, we need an ambulance, I cannot just drive you to the ER". 2 hours later she's in surgery to put screws in. 2 days later she has a heart attach in her hospital room, the widow maker one. Lucky she was there.

I hope it works out ok for your mother.
