Any previous pics with lots of masts were as transients....but now I've moved right in among them, we'll see how they
handle the MAGA hat, flashing stripper lights, and beer bottles floating around in the marina.

Pikes bay seemed like a nice place. We stayed at Apostle Island Marina while visiting the Apostles and it’s right in town but we moved to Pikes Bay for a couple of days just before leaving for Isle Royale so we could do laundry. Bayfield didn’t have laundry. Not having a car, staying right in Bayfield worked good.
Yeah, our friends are getting out, not sure how much longer for us.

I've been in all the marinas over there but used Port Superior the most. Port Superior is the one next door to Pikes Bay. Last summer when I decided to make the move I had a hard time finding a spot anywhere, every place was plumb full. They told me it was the busiest summer they've ever had. It'll be interesting to see if that continues this summer.

Yes Pikes Bay is pretty nice but pricey compared to where I was, a little over 4k more than where I was. We usually go to the Apostles a couple times in the summer, plus over and back because of storage so I'll make that up in the savings in fuel. They also have good mechanic services there, that's something I want now but that ain't cheap either....

I haven't met many of the other boaters there yet. I'll have to tread lightly at first, I've already had a beer with the marinas only black guy, maybe some rainbow compression socks will help in gaining further acceptance. I can spring the hat and flag on them later, maybe like 'Trannys for Trump' or something.

I like to think of myself as a visual guy, I was following along peacefully and then you dropped the rainbow compression socks witch got me laughing hysterically. It wasn't until Trannys for Trump. I laughed so hard I almost lost a lung. I'm a buyer when the tee shirts come out!

FYI, the dredge is now heading south despite the original plan, so you should be in better shape than last year regarding depth.

How quickly this thread derailed, and how far afield it has moved, is just another example of how urgently we need this 2023 boating season to get started.

I think I'm 3 weeks away still. I've got another day of waxing until I'm done for the season. Then I hope to get a free day to install my "bilge b dry" and some other odds and ends in the engine room wrapped up.

With severe thunderstorms in the forecast for today and 1" +/- of snow forecast for tomorrow...I'm okay still being in the barn

I got lucky and went in on Friday afternoon. Weather was 70 here in Sandusky. Boys wanted to go and stay the night so we left and prepped everything. First cruise out on Saturday just when we got on plane leaving marina, my oldest tells me we are getting flagged down. 18' bass boat engine problems and trolling battery dead. Tied them to Starboard and towed them 4 miles to their launch ramp... took 45 min to get there and tem minutes to get back..
