2012 190

I have a 2012 190 bought in April. Great little boat. Added a wakeboard tower, speakers etc. Have had a few issues from water in the gauges, fiberglass cracked in the bilge area, a couple of small cuts/tears in the upholstery that were already there, sea ray emblem fell off, and one that a quality issue to me is missing nuts, loose brackets, even lost the window strap/snap. I HIGHLY recommend going through the boat and using tread locker or something to keep the cheap hardware from loosening up. Why they didnt use self locking nuts is beyond me. Check the passenger and driver side vinyl panels (held on by brackets), back seat upper screws and nuts (under sunpad area backside of seat).
With that said, the 4.3 mpi is great and the hull itself seems better/thicker then most others. The service department has also been outstanding. Really enjoy the boat and it is my first "new" boat. Maybe I expected too much?

Looks good:

I bought the same bought this spring. Had the tach replaced as you couldn't see it at night. Several spots of gel coat came out due to screws going through hull. No lose screws anyplace, but I will check them now. Big one is boat broke down on lake, ignition coil had a bad spot on it and when it got wet would short out and stall boat. When dry worked great, so it was a little hard to diagnose, but I let the dealer know exactly when and how it would stall and they found it after that. I had a little moisture in the glass area above the main gauge, not in the actual gauge itself.
When you trailer do not have the Bimini up as the road motion makes the support rods rub against each other and they start to wear.
It does seem like a heavy boat and the 4.3 does a great job with power and gas. Overall pleased with boat.

Well, I've put 83 hours on my 190 this Summer...and am hoping to squeek in another 5 or so before wrapping things up for 2012. The boat's been pretty great, with just a few minor 'wear and tear' issues. The snap to hold the windshield open has disappeared, and the screws on one of the two hinges on the bench seat (cooler cover) are coming loose and need to be tightened up. Nothing I can't take care of myself. So far, I've added the Smart Tabs, and a (factory Shoreland'r) spare wheel/tire to my trailer. Just got my SeaDek 'template kit' in the mail, and am considering a swimplatform pad, but need to see how the color samples look. Also thinking about getting some aluminum wheels for my trailer, but that seems like it would be a hassle. Gotta keep myself busy this winter, right!? :)

I have 55 hrs now and agree, it is a great little boat. Also had the loose hinge screws for the cooler seat. put a little bit bigger screws in it and has been good since. The seat somehow comes open when trailering and caused the loose hinge screws. I added a strap and snap and it works great to keep the seat from moving in the wind.

ospreytrainer01, where did you hook the strap up to, I be curious to see a picture as the same thing happens to us, right now we usually put a full cooler on top of it to keep it from moving. I also found that the little removeable cushion next to it likes to pop out from the wind. I find that even with the cover on trailering the seat moves.

I bought a snap kit and some strapping from a marina. Used a stainless screw and washer to attach the strap to the bottom of the cushion in the middle, folded the other end and attached the snap button (female side). once on, marked where the screw snap (male side) goes and screwed it in. It basically keeps the front edge of the seat from lifting and allowing it to pop up in the back. If you need a pic, let me know and will get one for you. Oh, and the little cushion I always stow when trailering. Found it in the floor after a ride lol

it wasnt even noticed until I watched it in the rear view at about 45 and above. saw the back of it going up and down only a few inches. Also whenever I got in after trailering the cushion was never seated all the way back. Added the strap afetr the hinge screws were loosening.

A picture would bed great, no rush as I won't be putting it on until spring. We noticed the opening on our first trip out, when we had food in the cooler, got to the lake and most of the food was missing.

I'd love to see the pictures too. A friend I took skiing this Summer sent this to me today, and I thought those intrigued by Smart Tabs might like seeing it. The water is very clear, and offers a good view of them:

That's great, that's exactly what kind of solution I was looking for. That seat moves no matter if you have a cover on or off when trailering. Only thing I can think is the wind works it's way around the back and pushes it out from the behind the cushion.

Just bought the Searay 190 at the Demo Boat show at Hurst Marina (Ottawa). They had several boats in the water that you could try, the staff took us out for a ride, I couldn't believe how smooth the ride was. I only have 10 hours on her so far, The Depth Finder hasn't worked yet (possible transducer problem) and the speedometer works intermittently. Other than that everything has been great so far, I'm already looking forward to next summer. Only regret at this point is not getting the wake tower, if I decide I want it installed later I'll probably end up paying more than if I had bought it with the boat?

Congratulations! I am envious, I have been looking at that boat, but this 1990 180 BR is our first boat and we want to run it for at least a couple of years first before taking the plunge on a newer or new boat. Obviously our seats are a little aged, and my wife says it really wears on her being on the water all day - she loves being out there but would certainly enjoy it more with a smoother ride. I would certainly make sure they address that speedo and depth finder issue.
Have fun!

Congrats on the new 190! About the wonky speedo...Early in the season (when water levels were really high and there was quite a bit of wood debris in the northern California resevoirs) I had the same issue. The hole on the outdrive which houses the monitor got a bit plugged, and all the dealer had to do was to blow high pressure air into it and the problem was solved.

I had a 2010 185 4.3 TKS with no tower, which has the same hull as the 190. I was surprised at the increase in bow rise when pulling people out of the water with my 190...which makes sense considering the anchor point for the tow line is up high as opposed to being on the transom. That's why I added the Smart Tabs, which made a dramatic difference (improvement), not only with bow rise and hole shot, but with porpoising in choppy water. Oh, and they also reduced the amount of "steering wander" the boat does while idling along in a no-wake zone...much less correction needed.

Congrats on the new 190! i considered the one with a wakeboard tower also but decided against it. Installed a monster tower mtk. Really pleased with it.
