My walk-through window does the same thing. I haven’t really paid much attention to it yet, but I would be very interested in some ideas to keep it from getting worse.

Have any of you folks tried fashioning a door below your walk through window (see picture below) to block some of the air flow? If so, do you mind describing how you did it and what you did? Thanks in advance.

Check the attach pic.....On my 08, the center window has a small rubber post that holds the window from touching the gel coat. And on the far right of the pic, there is a small snap strap that holds the window from flopping around.

For making a door for the walkway, someone on here made one from plexi glass. A couple small u-channels and then slid the sheet down into these channels. Not sure who, but it's in this sport section.

I have the snap strap but not the rubber post. Darn that previous owner - first no ski locker plug and now this.

I am either going to try to stick on a small rubber pad (made for cabinets) in that same spot or slide a strip of car door edge guard onto the bottom of the window.

All this talk about center windows made me wonder if anyone elses center window is hard to close? it seems like something is out of adjustment, but I dont see any adjustments. Any thoughts?

On mine there is a sticker that says, "window adjustment screw". Open the window and look on the hinge side. I believe it was in the bottom corner.
I haven't used it, but it looks like turning the screw alters the squareness of the frame.

I have the rubber bumper, but the snap on the walk-through window has dug into the gel coat by the control panel (when the window is closed)

I didn’t know about the adjustment screw, I may have to take a look at that...

silly question :)

what is the intended purpose of the ski locker drain plug ?
is it to use the locker as a bait well or a beer cooler?

garmin gps, where to mount?

Hi All

I have a 2010 185sport...
Just bought a garmin 540s.

I was going to mount it with the stock mount kit to the left of the steering wheel... but it really comes close to the wheel and would leave very little room to click the buttons....

Any suggestions?
I've seen ram mounts, they would probably give some flexibility... but I'm worried about how solid a ram mount would be on a rough ride.

Anyone have a gps mount photo to share?

Hey Mate, If I could afford to I would drop in a V6 or even better the V8. This can be done in Australia as far as I know, but once the conversion is paid for and the paperwork is done it might be better to simply buy another boat with a bigger motor... But oh for the unlimited power of a V8.... sigh..

My first boat was a '91 180BR with a 4.3. I had a High Five 19" prop and that was a 60 mph boat. I think that's why they don't offer it in anything less than the 185BR now.

Stay with the alum props. If you hit something with a stainless prop, your tearing your outdrive down for a rebuild. Yeh, a black prop is not as cool as a stainless, but after you use your boat some, you will see that a $150 prop replacement is cheap, compared to drive damage....
Not true. In my 230OV I had a reef encounter when I was attempting to help a sailboat stuck on the reef in a running tide I spun the hub. Stainless offers less flex than aluminum and more performance. I loved the stainless and kept the aluminum as a spare. Unless you hit something at a high RPM that hub is there to protect your running gear.

Repair and new hub was $185.

My 180BR had a piece of canvas that came with the boat that shut off that area. It worked great.

Any water that you get in there from skis, cleaning or ice for your beer has to go somewhere. So the plug seals off the limber hole that connects back to your bilge.

I had my Garmin 441 mounted to the right of the steering wheel, not sure the size difference, but it fits well.

I did the same. I just fashioned a mounting plate (which I still need to trim to a more form/fit look) where the cup holder is. Cables go through a hole in the plate so they aren't visible.

185 Sport Transducer Suggestions

Sorry for the cross-post, but I figured it would be good to direct this to the '180 thread'...

http://clubsearay.com/forum/showthread.php?p=392019&posted=1#post392019

I'm not too sure where the waterline is.. but sounds like I need to carefully find the proper place to drill the 3/4" hole for the transducer cable.. Anyone have specific suggestions for a new 185 sport with factory platform?

Re: 185 Sport Transducer Suggestions

Anyone with a 185 sport with factory swim platform that could advise on where to drill hole in transom for transducer cable?

I'm kinda stuck with the install... transducer and gps are mounted, but cable isn't properly routed yet.

If I drill through the hull, under the swim platform, it seems low (about 5-6" below rub rail).

Should I drill through both the swim platform lip and the hull/transom, so the hole is higher???

Or should I just not worry about it and drill low, near the transducer and seal it up with 5200 ?
The cable requires a 3/4" hole.....

any advice appreciated, especially if it's specific to the 185 sport with factory swim platform.

Thanks

Re: garmin gps, where to mount?

Jason
Thanks for the pic..

I ended up mounting mine in exactly the same spot... But what I found, testing it on the water in direct sunlight today, is that I have to move my head to the right looking squarely at the screen or it's too hard to see. In it's current position (looks just like yours) it's not pointed at me eyes...

So I'm thinking of adding a ram mount to allow it to swivel.

Where did you drill through the transom for the transducer cable? Or do you have a thru-hull?
