$10 Gas. What are you going to do?

Well, I figure it this way: Gas was 3.46 a gallon last year, and I filled up before winterizing. So I have about 70 gallons to start off with. I put $75 a week in my tank and used my boat at least 4 out of the 7 nites of the week. It appears that since the price would triple, I'd only use my boat once, maybe twice a week. Instead of ramming up the river full throttle, I'd just cruise along slower.

1) Take donations towards gas from all my tag along buddies.

2) Go into trawler mode and idle around the lake.

The world can't sustain that price which why it will never get that high.quote]

When you stop and think of all things that oil is used in, or needed to produce, oil truly is the currency of our era. If oil rises to high everything will rise with it slowing economies worldwide. Most of the countries with oil need the money to payoff their subjects, they will not let it get too high.

pull back the throttles and enjoy the ride. Still cheaper than a steak dinner in NYC.

Ask my parents for my inheritance money a little bit sooner .

We made boating a family priority a long time ago. Have plans and places to go, so we'll do our thing come hell or high water.

Hope you guys realize that as diesel prices go up. Trucking company's charge higher fuel surcharge. That gets passed onto my customers. They pass it on down the line and ends up on the store shelves as higher prices. Gas may be bad enough. But when every item in your wife's shopping cart goes up 0.25 that can hit your wallet too.

As for me I'll just have to earn more so I. Can buy gas too:smt100

Our gas price is going up even more due to our government deciding to implement a carbon tax. Effectively this will increase a US gallon of gas by $0.25. So without any increase due to Lybia etc our gas price per US gallon will soon be $6.70. As our currency is at parity with the USD we could see $8 a US gallon due to the Lybian crisis I guess.

People like my own father as smart as he is will never get it. He drives 25 miles to work. 50 per day. 5 days per week. His car gets 25 mph. If gas goes up $1.00 per gallon, Dad is out an extra $12.50 per week. Not a big deal. But that $1.00 increase in diesel adds cost to everything else you buy. That hurts way more, yet the media only focusus on gasoline.

Now gasoline price hikes kill all other recreational use of gas. Boating encluded. That a plainly do understand.

Look at it like this. You can survive a gunshot wound. But what about 10,000 needle pricks

Also. This recession was triggered by the fuel prices in late '08. Didn't help that as a society we were mortgaged to the teeth with everything having the "Low low monthly payment."

This is what Occcidental and Marathon have to say about Libya. (We are getting bagged again by speculators taking advantage of the situation to profit)

Occidental Petroleum Corp. (OXY 104.59, +1.63, +1.58%) , the first Western oil company open up shop in Libya after sanctions were lifted in 2005, said the country now amounts to about 2% of its worldwide production, or about 13,000 barrels of oil equivalent a day in 2010.
Our Libya production continues with operations managed by Oxy’s Libyan national employees and contractors,” spokesman Richard Kline said. “We have taken all appropriate steps for the safety and security of our personnel in the region.”
Marathon Oil said it evacuated dependents of its expatriate employees and are “taking the necessary step to ensure the safety and security of our expatriate employees.” It added that it’s “unaware of any impact to production at this time.”

We sold plenty of gas at $4.20 a gallon last time we got hosed by speculators. Our customers choose boating over other activities. "The boats paid for and I'm using it" was the attitude. We really only get to boat 4 months a year in PA so it's a do it now or not choice. Gas will not get to $10 a gallon in the US because the economy can't handle that. We do have emergency reserves that can be used if our worthless President gets his head out of his *** and does something. We need more than a "community organizer" right now! It may peak at $5 but the demand at $4 dropped so fast they had to lower prices last time. Americans just will not pay $5 a gallon I believe. Remember all our $$$'s go overseas with these high fuel prices. The money we spend does nothing for our economy but tear it down. We need to drill now and demand it now or put people in office that will! They can't eat oil in the desert so let's just jack up the cost of food we export.....that will start a real war no the current chicken crap! I'm not a big Trump fan but it's about time we get some b**l's and become the Super Power we were in WWII. It's time to take charge here in our own country. The scarry part is Glenn Beck is more right than wrong.....His message is wake up people or should I say sheep, Mike.

There was a time I thought fuiel at $5.00 would collapse the economy. Now I fear since we survived it that will be the target for the speculators. Kbowing they could get away with it. I am starting to prepare for the worse. May be a good idea to stock up on staples now. Food fuel and ammo.

Our current clown is more interested in talking out of both sides of his mouth than actually taking a leadership role.

C'mon Scott, He's a great leader....

He has led Emanual to be the Mayor of Chicago.
He has led Hillary to a job with more perks than his own.
He has led Pelosi to the nut house.
He has leading us as a country to the poor house.
He has practically solely responsible for the explosion of the Tea Party.

Al Frankin says he is a great American leader.
Who is he not leading?

Look at the bright side....

No need to make advance reservations at the "hot spot marinas" this year...

This is something that the appointed one would want. Just think about it, how many people will now buy once of those electric cars that have been selling like crazy?

I do agree with alternative solutions though, Oil is not an unlimited resource. But we do not have the technology yet to rely on alternative technology for the masses. So we need to rely on coal and natural gas for our powerplants, some of the most abundant materials in America.....Oh wait bama is shutting down those plants to.

I agree with everything you said CV-23.

Also, Our nation is in some deep SH*^ and we have CNN, CBS, ABC, NBC talking about Justin Bieber's new haircut and Lindsay Lohan crap! I'm sick of it!

I'm seriously getting nervous for the first time about where we are headed.

Why all the speculator bashing? What do they do that's wrong? Illegal? Here ia a post of mine from a few weeks ago, tell me where I'm wrong.

I was with you until the speculators comments. Speculators don't cause prices to rise they just precede the rise and sell when the rise stops, actually speeding the fall, as well a the rise. They also hold and sell, offering oil to end users and reducing hoarding by them. All oil is a commodity sold at market prices no matter who holds the paper. I don't think they change the market prices much and seem to stabilize both price swings and availability

The upsetting fact was they could never explain why we paid so much a few years ago for gas/diesel/oil......all profits went to everyone except the comsumer. The Middle Class will be destroyed by what's going on now....we'll soon be like other third world countries.....the rich and the kept. Buy lots of canned food now....prices will be up next week on everything, Mike.

Good one. You are catching on. The Rich and the Kept. Just like old times. It is the design of the system. The haves and the haves not or how many have nots can we create.
We all want the same thing. Freedom from tyranny and oppression. We just want to enjoy life.

I guess if the price continues to go up and eventually reached $10/gal, we will have think for about where to go with the boat. Go slower, and maybe just maybe, buy a blow boat...
