I have a 1975 Sea Ray SRV 240 boat, it has a transom plug in the back and what appears to be another plug midship in the floor next to the drivers station, what is the second plug for?
Ok, I was talking to an older gentleman last week about my SRV240 Flybridge and he was telling me the some people remove thier flybridge and put a "cap" over where the flybridge is to make the boat more stable......has anyone done this type of modification?
I don't know that I am 100% going to...
ok, I am a freakin idiot! I finally got my hands on a manual for the boat and found that the trim tilt switch will not raise the outdrive if reverse is engaged...........3 days of chasing wires, checking switch's, and replacing the solenoid on the pump......dang it, I should practice what I...
it is kinda odd (for me) the switch has 2 up buttons and 2 down buttons, I have never seen one like it.
I will try to upload a pic of it tomorrow when I get home. How do I hook up the four wires to a three pole switch? The new switch is a rocker type "normally off" switch.......
Ok, my 1975 SRV 240's tilt trim switch quit, I went to our local marine store and found a switch but I am having some trouble figuring out how to rewire it......the shop recommended a 3 wire switch and the boat had a 4 wire switch........I am dumb-founded!
I jumped across the solenoid and...
Ike, thanks for the info, you have to remember, I don't really know where to look.....I was trying all the local lumber yards/home improvement stores because that is all I know :) (I am a car guy trying to get into the boaters world)
The reason I was asking about aluminum, the wood pieces that I removed were attached to the boat via aluminum tabs.......as far as working with aluminum, I can weld it myself and have a buddy powder coat it for me to prevent any corrosion...there isn't any corrosion on any of the bare aluminum...
Well a buddy of a buddy has access to some Marine lumber for me (next door neighbors' cousins' best friends' little brother).
Hopefully I will be able to get my hands on it by tomorrow afternoon and maybe I can get started again after Christmas :)
All, thank you for the info, I can't wait for the weather to clear up so I can get to work on her..
I have a small stock pile of aluminum angle collecting dust in the corner of my garage, can't I use the aluminum?????
I keep asking because I don't know....
I will take some pics tonight....if it isn't raining too hard.
So I guess using some aluminum "angle" is or isn't a good idea???? I have a friend who can powder coat it for me for a 6 pack of the cheap stuff :)
Yes, the dimensions are 2"x2" or close to it.... All this is for is the motor "cover" and some pieces that go along the top of the transom area that hold up the "coolers" mounted to the transom wall. Sorry if I have miss named the area..... Again, still very wet behind the ears when it comes to...
Thanks for the info! I am VERY new to the boating scene and didn't think his answer was right but I wasn't sure.........
I will see if I can find some pressure treated 2x2's at the local Home Depot and Lowe's....
ok, my 1975 SRV 240 has a few "rotting wood" problems. I have gotten all of the rotted wood removed (Very carefully) and laid out in my garage so I can trace the pieces onto some new wood and replace them......I done GOOOOOOOOD on this aspect of the project, now I can't find any "Marine grade"...
Sorry for taking so long to get back to all of you......My oldest daughter gave birth to my first granddaughter today.
Ok, let's see if I can hit all the answers:
Yes "Hoof Arted" is going to be her name (she didn't have a name)
Yes, I am going to trailer her, I got a really nice aluminum...
The name is Pete, first time boat owner, just picked up a 1975 Sea Ray SRV 240...was looking for something a little smaller but I found this for a deal I couldn't really pass on. I don't know a whole lot about boats but am eager to learn.
