    1990 Anchor Rope Locker Hatch!

Mine has been destroyed by sun and weather. It is not 6" or 8"! The locking hatch is 6.5" with an outside diameter of 8 7/8". Screw spacing is 8 1/4" apart. Hole opening is 7 1/4". Can't find anything that works. Any help would be great...This is a 270 Sundancer....Thanks, Mike.

    Total Ignition Loss?

Will do! What about the Low Oil Pressure cutoff switch. Had to replace my pressure sensor this season. I do have water temp and voltage readings at the dash but no tach or oil pressure moving during cranking.....It just dead cut off engine like a light switch.....Thanks, Mike.

    Total Ignition Loss?

Was out for a ride tonight and lost all ignition. Cruising at 3600rpms with the 454/330hp carb motor. Have gas and no spark. Noticed I have no tach, temp or oil pressure gauges when cranking the engine over. Still have power trim and lighting but no spark. I did not take apart the multipin...

No I'm looking at something different

Love my 270/290 but would only buy a larger twin engine boat with a Genny. Having AC and Heat while on the water is priceless! Love it at the dock so on the water would have to be even better!!!

How much time to you spend at "cocktail speed" vs on plane?

I'd say 50/50. If I had twins I would run off plane more. Steering a single engine off plane is a real pain in the ass. At my commercial job we run 4-5 knots constantly but twin counterrotating outdrives are the key and diesel is nice for this. My on plane speed is 3600rpms for the single...

Can't get on plain or get past 3200 rpm.

Fyi......reving a motor to 5K with no load on it is not recommended either........especially a big block.

    Oil Pressure Gauge?

Temp problem solved! The thermostat in the engine was a 160F and the bar holding the little plastic balls was shot. One ball could not seal due to corrosion. I swapped the housing off my old motor....it's a 140F thermostat and the balls and thermostat was replaced by me a few years ago. The...

    Oil Pressure Gauge?

New frustration! Engine temp cycling from 145 to 190. Impeller is new but thermostat may be going bad. Exhaust manifolds new also. Engine runs great but changing the whole housing tomorrow.....using my old one. Thermostat was new two years ago on my old motor. Hope my oil/PS cooler is not...

    Oil Pressure Gauge?

I still have my old engine for spare parts and the sending unit in hand. I unhooked the wire on the sending unit and the gauge is still pegged while running. My mechanic recommended that first. I also noticed another smaller sending unit, next to the larger one, going to my coil. Is that to...

    Oil Pressure Gauge?

Changed the 454 motor in my 270DA after freeze damage. Started fine but the oil pressure gauge is pegged at 80 lbs. It did it as soon as I turned on the key and while running. Engine running fine but did the sending unit die? Water temp and alternator guages fine also. Same year motor and...

    Inexperienced Captian????

Let me speak as a boater since the age of 10 and I'm now 56 and a 100T Master. Buying a 30ft boat with no boating experience is a reality for some. Taking a safe boating course would be a no brainer and also some mentoring time from an experienced boater in your area. A 5 ton boat is not a...

speed of 260's and 280's Sundancer

My 454 in my 270 is a real gas hog.....bottom line is 1.2mpg at cruise which is 3800 rpms at 30mph. She tops out at 4600 rpms at 38mph. 4 blade stainless mercury. Performs great but the 454 carb is a thirsty engine. Mine is a 9ft beam and 30ft long, Mike.

What does everyone do for a living?

Kind of joined late into this thread.....currently running a 65ft/95 ton steel simulated paddlewheel riverboat. Twin Volvo diesel/sterndrives and a 25K diesel genny. Got my 100T USCG Master License last year and crewed for a year before that. A year being 6 months in central PA. I'm also a...
