Boat Info
1990 270 sundancer,1988 Pachanga 22
Engines
454 with bravo drive,454 with alpha drive
What ratio alpha 1 out drive is on a 1988 pachanga 22 big block?Just bought boat and owner says was rebuilt but I don't trust it and would rather get another 1.Boat will be used on small lake and no coming out of water and beat on.Do not want to replace with bravo 1.

Also do you know what prop came on boat and pitch?

I thought they used higher gears like the 1:85 to prolong life?

On Sea Ray's website, under Owner's Resources, there's a section for a prop matrix. It will show the info you're asking about.

no the gear ratios are 150-1 v-8, 165-1 v-6,and merc 4 cylinder, 198-1 gm 4 cylinder.

It has a stainless 21 pitch prop on it right now.Is that a good all around prop for this boat or should I be getting something else?will be doing water toys behind it and cruising around lake.Going to put it in water today to try it.

I have the same set up in my 88 250CC. The alpha ratio is 1.86:1, the high ratio is due to the amount of torque that this engine puts out. Torque is the killer for these old Alpha's. I never slam the throttle, just ease it up to speed. I have a 21 and a 23 inch stainless prop, the 21 is better for pulling toys around and skiing.

Ran well.Going to get prop fixed previous owner dinged it up.Came out of water good for boat like this without trim tabs.top end was 57 on speedometer.

Where can I get pin striping for boat don't see 2" dark green in west marine and also need small 3 color pin striping goes around everything.

Where can I get matching gel coat to touch up a couple spots? Also can't find small 3/8 pin striping?

What is top speed for Pachanga 22 with 454 all stock?

Perfectly matching gelcoat will need to done by a gel expert. It is pretty much impossible to get a perfect match on an older boat. But if it doesn't have to be perfect, try contacting Spectrum Color to see what they have. Or, you can buy gel kits and color it yourself (not easy).

For pinstriping, I'd recommend stopping by a local body shop - not a cheapie parts store - a place that does dent repair, body work and painting.

I can't say on the speed. But if you're getting the RPM's to the proper range for your engine, at WOT with the drive trimmed up properly and a light load... then whatever speed you're seeing in pretty much correct. But double check with GPS.

I was going to restripe my boat and I found a graphics place that would Make new decals, ANY color or size to replace existing ones. You would have to make measurements of the strips and withs between strips and they would make off your measurements. As far as speed, I have an 86 Pachanga 383 Stroker (around 400HP..so I was told)...Alpha SS drive (which is an old race drive that is 3 inches shorter than a stock alpha 1 with a built in nosecone) with a 1:32 ratio and a Stainless 21 in Mirage prop and I have awesome torque out of the hole, and 63-64mph (GPS) depending on load.
