Harold vinny says as of last week Montauk marine basin across from Star Island was cheaper for both gas and diesel (both valvtech) so check before you pump

Diesel yes, gas no.

Well, looks like we've got the refueling covered, at least preliminary, and while we're waiting for more responses on the restaurant in Hyanniss, I'd like to propose to do dinghy poker run in Shelter Island. Based on the info I've gathered on the first page, we'll have largest group for the weekend of the Flotilla kick off. Thus, it would make sense to do it and have maximum participation rate.
Our stations can look like this:
First card gets handed at the raft and then we're off to a race to 4 more stations.

Any thoughts?
Alex just have a question. Why r we going to take an indirect route down around acabonack Harbour when we can go a more direct route up through Gardiner pt? Just curiouse. I'm thinking fuel is your reason but I could be wrong
Poker run sounds fun. My only thoughts is that it seems like the stations are a bit too close together. Spacing it out further (Rams Head Inn for a station, perhaps) would prolong the fun. But I'm a newbie here, so I'll just go with the flow. Thanks for organizing this. Should be a great time.
I guess it's best to finalize the stations when we get there. You don't want them to be too far apart either. We need to keep in mind that some of the dinghies in the group aren't planing, so we need to consider for slower speed dinghies. It's not really a true "race", the object of th game is not who gets from point A to point B first.
+1 The 3.5hp motor on my dinghy is just above an eggbeater so the stations can't be too far apart or else I will miss all of the fun. As said, it is the journey not the destination!
John, remember to bring water guns for the poker run!!
Water guns. Got it.
Just curious, is there a more detailed itinerary for SI? I see on the first page that the Feast will be on Sat, the 30th. Is there a specific time for that? afternoon? evening?
Here's a list of things I've read about on this thread for SI. Just curious if all these are still happening, and if so, when/what day? Or is it a play it by ear type of thing?
- Feast (have we determined yet who's bringing what? Do we all bring a dish, or $ or both?)
- Paddle board race for the kiddos
- Dinghy tour of Coecles Harbor
- Poker run
I know we still have some time, but thinking about this stuff on a Tuesday is more fun than doing work.
I'm glad you asked, John.
Here's what I propose for the weekend:
Any thoughts, guys?
Obviously, we can adjust some timings, but I thought it would be a good baseline.
Even though we still have plenty of time, we should start thinking about the feast menu!

Some good questions here. Will be keeping an eye on this. I was hoping to leave Friday morning from Huntington. Anyone in the area thinking the same? Maybe do a little caravan out

Well, since I don’t consider myself a culinary expert, I am willing to do what I did last trip and bring the plates, utensils, solo cups (16oz), paper towels, napkins, garbage bags and table clothes. Fair enough?
