CSR Northeast Flotilla 2016

I would definitely be interested in Rye also. My wife used to go there as a kid, and we took our kids there last year and they loved it. Does anyone know how many mooring balls they have there? I'd hate to cruise all the way down there just to see that they are all full.

Last year we did it as a group of 5 and it worked out fine. Based on what I recall, there are about 10-12 mooring balls but they are different sizes. Possibly 5-6 can accommodate 50'ers and maybe 5-7 ball for smaller vessels.

I'll try to find more info and will post if anything new comes up.

Alex, do you know if they allow multiple boat to raft up on the same mooring ball?

I highly doubt, just b/c there's not much swinging room. The balls are staggered close to each other, as the mooring field is not large at all.

P.S. Very cool new sig. Pic.....

Figured I would ask. If we could have gotten two boats per mooring that would have increased our chances to have a larger group stay semi close together. Thanks. I think I posted that picture in the thread as well.

Hey guys, we regret to say that we will not be able to sync up with the floatilla this year. Scott and Velvet of the LTC's are out too. There are a number of factors and conflicts that got in the way. We hope to catch you at some of our planned destinations this year.

Sorry to hear that, Mike. Hope to see you soon.

Gary, welcome aboard. From your post I'm guessing you'll be only doing Coecles Harbor? I assume you'll be rafting with the group for the weekend?

I think that's a good assumption. Gary and I went to college together and I just recently told him about the Flotilla. I only mentioned the Coecles Harbor part because that's the only part I am doing. Sorry about that. Gary, read the first page to see about the entire itinerary if you're interested.

I think we should start throwing some ideas on group dining in the ports we'll be staying. Since we're having the feast in Coecles Harbor, we might want to have at least one night dining out in MV and Hyannis, I'm not sure how you guys want to do it in Montauk. Keep in mind that we'll have to make an advance reservations for a large group.

Yes just the Coecles Harbor portion. The wife is pregnant and is hesitant about being far from a hospital to long.

I think getting a restaraunt on the Vinyard that can handle the group is going to be tough. There are not a lot of places that could handle the amount of people and it will be the height of the season and they are really busy so may not want to tie up tables with a large group.

Hyannis on the other hand should be easy. There are a lot of restaraunts that are larger and could handle the size of the group. The first one that comes to mind is Tugboats. It is at Hyannis marina which is a Searay dealer so having a place to tie up dingy's shouldn't be a problem.

Take a look at the menu and let me know what you think.

Tugboats' menu looks great to me! Otherwise, As we have never been to MV or Hyannis, we will defer to the locals for ideas and suggestions.

Guys, last week I made dinner reservations on Nantucket and MV for 6, the week before your trip and it was very difficult finding tables other than before 4 and after 8:30 and these were during the week. Better hurry with your plans.

The islands are very tough that time of year. Most places won't take a reservation and are on long waits. Also be prepared because a lot of places are cash only. Not the nicer restaurants but smaller places like ice cream shops and lunch places.

Just another note, if it hadn't been mentioned. When you're in Vineyard Haven on MV, be advised that it's a dry town... so either provision earlier, or make a stop at nearby Oak Bluffs. We were in OB over Memorial Day weekend, and there were boats coming over from Vineyard Haven dropping off a crewmembers for a "resupply mission" on a fairly regular basis at the finger pier near slip 1. Back in, drop off crew, spin around mooring field, swing back, load up your adult beverages, (and crew) :smt001

Could be a critical issue if you don't plan properly !

You could try Nancy's in Oak Bluffs for dinner, they do large parties upstairs http://nancysrestaurant.com/#dinner

Cant think of any Vineyard Haven restaurants large enough that would take a big group with reservation.

There are several in Edgartown that may take them but as said it will likely be tough getting a reservation.

Also as a side note on VH being a dry town, you can still get alcohol in the resturants (at least some of them), just cant get it from any stores.

I agree Tugboats in Hyannis would be a good spot since you can take the dinghy.
