Table Rock Lake

Job hunt is slow, but that is partially my fault. I am looking at a lot of options, including a career change - maybe start a business.

I don't remember it being mowed. We were all the way in the back. There's 5 or 6 docks and then about 300 yards of lake with nothing but trees on the shoreline. It was very quiet and not a boat back there.

I was looking at your article in SR Living, and it makes me sick that we can't get down there in the fall anymore. I love sweatshirt boating weather. But with my oldest son starting for his varsity football team and my youngest playing club soccer it just doesn't work.

I too love this time of year for boating. It is more comfortable to ride around or drop anchor in a cove and chillax for awhile. The pics in the magazine were taken the 1st weekend in November.

You're trying to make me cry. I will be down in October to winterize and change the AC in the condo over to heat. If I don't have a job by spring, the condo will go into the rental program (unless it sells before then).

Dont feel too bad....I dont get down as much as I would like in the fall.....

Not us. Right in the middle of soccer and football season. Plus my job ends on 10/15, so I don't want to burn the gas. I will be down later in the week to winterize, though.

Are you having MM winterize?

So they extended you to the end on September, now mid October? Maybe they will continue thru the end of the year.

No, I'm going to do it myself. Since the 496 is fresh water cooled, the risk is much less. And Sferguson gave me a good primer on how to go about it. It will save me a few hundred dollars (I bought an oil extractor, so I will start changing my own oil too) and I have time on my hands.

10/15 is my absolute last day here. It's been really weird, I've never been involved in such a bizarre situation. They are still asking me to make long term decisions for the company, really strange.

Awesome...I have an oil pump...it is very easy to do. The oil and fuel filters are very easy as well....although not sure what your 8.1 has....they may be a bit different than my 5.0's.

I am winterized. I am hoping for a short winter. How about everyone else?

Winter can't be short enough. But, the boat stays put up until I have a job or find a business to buy and start making money.

Had a nice surprise when I went to change my oil. Turns out I have the quick drain system: Undo the plug, pull out the hose, undo the drain plug and empty the oil. Oil was completely drained in 5 minutes. Easy as pie, and I returned the oil extractor to WM and saved $70.

I didn't winterize guys! I'm putting bilge heaters in and just draining the water system for now. I plan on taking "The Dawg house" out when it snows! Lots of room if anyone want to take a snow cruise. And for the record I only need one snow and then I'm ready for spring..

I am jealous....I have considered putting in bilge heaters....do you keep you boat at POK?

Jeff,
I keep it up near Baxter at a little Yacht Club. Thinking about moving it down to POK next season so I will be closer to the new shop.

Anyone hitting any boat shows this year? We are thinking of maybe hitting Tulsa or ST. Louis this year...but will see what the weather is like.

We'll be hitting the St. Louis show, not sure which day. Of course, since I have a lot of time on my hands, I may buy a multiday ticket and go by myself on a week day and on the weekend with the family.

Tim...did you go to the show? We ended up not going this year. We thought about going to Tulsa, but then we got a butt load of snow.

Anyone else getting spring fever? I know I am....

Jeff,
we did go to the show. It was about 75% the size of two years ago, but fun all the same. The admiral decided that she would rather have the Sea Doo that is set up to tow boarders rather than adding a tower to the boat, so I've got that going for me...Just need to find a job/business.

Hi, new guy here. I am in the Springfield area but from Kansas City and i was wondering if anyone knows of any boat storage places close to the lake. i found a cheap one about 20 min away.
Also what is the best place to launch? I am planning on using the Stat Park ramp. An recommendations?
When are you guys de-winterizing if you did?

I just saw your other post. Your boat looks great. I will be dewinterized this week. I know there is a storage place or two on 265, not too far from the entrance to State Park Marina. I am not on that road too often, so there may be other places. Have you boated on Table Rock before?

Tim...do you mean a Sea Doo PWC or one of their little jet boats? Any leads on a job???
