sorry if this was discussed already, but i have neither the time or patience to read through eleven pages of comments. Maybe we need a Water Sports Forum. Anyway, i have only been wakeboarding a short time but have really gotten hooked. My wife and 12 year old love it too. My question is this... are my 5 and 8 year olds ready??? What age did you start your kids out? I have ordered an O'brien Funboard that they can learn on. This is like an oversized boogey board that is pulled by the boat that they can stand up on and not have to hold the rope. THOUGHTS?
Hi! They will not make a watersports section I dont believe as most of the boaters just cruise. Thus why I started a wakeboarding thread, though I SHOULD have named it watersports.
Anyway, the 5 year old is ready if he/she can swim well without a life vest. THAT'S the important part, as you must think of the "what if's" the life jacket comes off somehow, someway. Same with the 8 year old.
That being said, the funboard is a great way to get comfortable with being on the water. I would get the 5 year old on it for the rest of the year and next, but the 8 year old, really, is ready for a wakeboard if you want to go that route, if they have the desire. If not, drop them on the funboard as well until ready.
Get "the book" series of wakeboard videos to learn proper form, or you will really keep yourselves back from advancing. Especially toe side. It is second to none in the sport for learning.

Other than that, have fun! Post up some pics and vids one day. Maybe we can help improve/help with your riding as well.
