Official 370 Venture thread

Hello Folks,

I am new to the boating, and recently was offered to purchase a 2014 Sea Ray 370 Venture for $160K. The boat looks like new and there is no signs of any damage or issues. The Engines have 340 Hrs and but the port engine was rebuilt by the dealer. Do you thinks this is a good price for the boat?
Lucky dude.

If ANYONE wants to sell me their 370 for 160k, I'm sold. Need it for a liveaboard, can't afford a house!!

Folks, this may be a case of buyer's remorse (it isn't, I love the Venture) but I just paid considerably more than that asking price for a well equipped version. This outboard powered "express cruiser" was a game changer when it came out. Just view pricing on a Sundancer "OB" for reference. For anyone considering, IMO the Venture was underappreciated when it was available. Having spent about 20 nights onboard on 4 different outings since we got her, I find it to be wonderfully designed. The ability to get into skinny waters is priceless in our area. The ample mid-berth cabin is fantastic for a good nights rest. Biggest drawback would have to be mileage. The boat needs to be just over 4,800 RPM to stay on plane, and runs best at about 5,300 RPM = approx 30 MPH. That being said, I have not been able to manage better than .7-.8 when cruising. At 7.50 a gallon, it makes you take notice.

Gulf Bob - I agree...160 was a steal IF that purchase went through. However, that post was from 2018 and one of the motors on that boat had been rebuilt and there were several other concerns. Anyway...the market value now seems to be $215-275K depending on the year, condition, hours, options, etc. I agree...compare that to a new 320 or 370 Dancer with outboards and its still a great value! We use our boat a lot and absolutely love it! I dont pay much attention to the fuel burn (I am a smiles per gallon kind of guy) but we are going on a decent cruise this weekend and I will pay more attention. I think we are getting closer to .9-1, which for a boat our size is pretty respectable. What props do you have?

Selling my 2014 Venture. It has been sitting for 2 years and obviously not being used. Cockpit seats are sun damaged and need to be replaced. There are few other odds and ends that will probably need attention. Decided to sell it cheap so someone can do a little work and still come out way under market. Has all the options including out door kitchen. Engines have 223 hours and Gen 98 hours. 185k If I can figure out how to post pictures here I will. Or can email on request.

Good luck with your sale. Only 83 Ventures were ever made so a below market one that needs a little TLC might work for someone! I always thought that those cushions would look great with some diamond stitching that is now popular.

Sent you a direct message, not sure if I can swing it, but would like to try if motors , etc.. are good! Would love some more pictures as well. Happy 4th!

Everything works, no bad history. Gen was serviced recently and new AGM batteries were installed. I agreed with someone who inquired, that I would take $175k so want to let others know to be fair.

View attachment 126777 View attachment 126778 View attachment 126779 View attachment 126780 As an update to my earlier posts, I managed to get the flat screen LCD TV off to access the area behind the TV. It was a real head scratcher so maybe this post will help someone out. The TV is fixed to a black panel that has some "patented" clamps/snaps on the back pivot to lock when you push in, and release under tension when you pull out. I only figured this out after snaking a camera back there. Here are some pictures that will explain.
Hey Gulf Bob - did you replace the sunpad rail speakers? When you had the TV out did you see where they connected? Another member told me there is a small amplifier that ran the ipod speakers on our front rails. Just wondering where it is and what it might look like. Thanks!

Ok. I found the post and read everything there. My repower guy is struggling to come up with how to repower. He says the boat is only rated for the 300 horsepowers. And he can’t get mercury to approve anything bigger or even the 300R’s which he and I agreed seemed to be best fit. I want to know what happens if you don’t snorkel the engines! I don’t even like that they are snorkeled. My common sense just tells me that I’m blowing salt air right into my engines.
16 Hemingway - any progress with the repower?

Sorry for the late response, I sure did change those old speakers out. I put in some JL Audio Vex speakers. The amplifier that runs them is located behind the salon TV. It is a 2x6x2 shinny box. You can't miss it. I trashed it and put in a real amplifier. Sounds great. Wish I could have replaced the wiring, but I think you would need to remove all the headliner. I was not that brave. I soldered and heat shrinked the factory wires right were they exit the railing. Time will tell, but I am quite satisfied for now. Always bothered me when running that I basically only heard the bass. The overhead speakers were just not enough.

Thanks for the reply! I still cant get the damn TV out. I pulled until I thought it was going to break the TV and cant get those "clips" to release. I got impatient and took the bow speakers completely off. Mounted a sound bar to the arch facing forward (and 4" pods facing backwards on the bimin arch) and connected to my other amp that ran the regular speakers.

I completely understand! First time I took it off I was sure I'd rip TV off the mount. I am assuming we are talking about the salon TV. What you can try is see if you can get your hand (one will do) behind the actual wood tv is mounted to. It has a good size hole where wires come through for TV and that way instead of just pulln on TV you are pulling on the wood. Once the first one let's go, the rest release fairly easily. I imagine it is designed this way because you don't want it falling off on its own in rough weather.

As for the sunpad speakers, here are some pictures of what it looked like when it was done. The second image is the amplifier that powered original speakers.

Did this boat sell already??? I’m a little late to the party.

No. I have been traveling internationally and took it off the market. Will be back in the country later this week and will put it back on.

I will float this out there to all of you Sea Ray Venture owners…If you are ever wanting to sell, I would love to hear about it directly from you than a broker or on Boat Trader or other selling site. We’re very interested in buying one. We reside in Michigan and there aren’t many up here. (Currently one is)
Thanks in advance!
John

Enjoying the Fl sunshine with the Venture, hope rest of you are making the best of Summer. Want to make some repairs on fabric but neither I nor upholstery guy have an idea on how to remove the passenger recliner cushions. Anybody here have experience taking these off? I have attached a picture of the seat and backrest in question. Also, I'm almost embarrassed to ask, but how can we search in just this thread using the search button?
