... 43 summers ago at Long Lake in the Adirondacks ...

Thats so awesome. We use to snowmobile up there, all over. Rode Long Lake many times. We use to have a cabin on Twitchell lake just north of Big Moose lake a few miles west of Long lake.

Your very lucky to have someone that loves the things you do, my wife is the same way, but definitely no bottom paint or waxing ...

Ex wife loved them because it meant she could drink, a lot, and get crazy. I got tired of that. So, I am divorced :)

GF tolerates them I think. She does like to help me clean because she is a clean freak, like me. She enjoys going to a destination, like another marina, a town, etc. Mostly to go to the town though, not to boat. She doesn't like the 90+ minute drive to/from the boat as well, nor do I really. She did surprise me the first time we hit rough, and I mean bow under the water rough, seas. She mostly slept while I was full of anxiety. And the 2 or 3 times we limped back on one engine, she was a trooper and didn't complain.

I was always the boater, she was not. I was raised boating and diy caring for them.

She loves boating and we do a lot of it! We have a lot of exploring to do now that we’re in a new location with a 13 month season, but...

It was always too cold to help with maintenance in New Jersczystan. It’s too hot to help with maintenance in Florida.
Why did you spend the whole day working on the boat?

I’ve kind of accepted the fact I’m working on the boat solo. Maybe its for the best as I am all capitals OCD.

I definitely miss my outboard center console that I kept on a lift. I think that as much as I’d love a 370/390 I won’t go any bigger just for the amount of work involved

I have never expected my partner to work on the boats systems/mechanicals. That's all me, and I enjoy it. Cool to hear some of you have a partner who likes to do this. I'd be thrilled if she would run the boat, but it scares her.

I grew up on the water, she did not. I spent my school days off and weekends either working on the boat (fixing, repairing, etc.) or crabbing, oystering, and clamming (not recreationally, it's what my dad did for a few years to pay the bills) helping my dad. Or pumping gas at a marina for $2.50 an hours, woo hoo!

I just want her to relax and enjoy herself as much as I do when on the boat/water.

wife pretty much runs Nor-tech boats. I own a manufactures rep agency for boating,, we are boaters thru and thru, always have been.... we live on the water ( intercoastal) in SW Florida and utilize our waterways...

Sadly, my wife passed away 6 years ago. She loved the boat as much as I do. There is not a sunset or sunrise since that I don’t think of her. Each tiny little chore I complete onboard puts a small smile on my face. She was extremely OCD about the boat and if I didn’t complete something to her standards she would subtly let me know. Damn I loved that woman

My wife likes to be on the boat, but likes being at our cottage on the beach more. My likes are the opposite. I really like taking friends and neighbors from the cottage out on the boat. But hanging out at the beach is pretty nice too.

Life complicated our ability to spend weekends away on the boat the past couple of years, but I still get out as much as I can. Not so many overnight trips recently. Once I early retire in maybe a year or so, we have a few longer boating trips planned. Much more enjoyable when we are not rushing to fit in the tiny gaps in a busy work life. I make sure she gets her foreign travel trips together, and I get my boating.

I guess I’m pretty lucky. My wife loves the boat, but I really think she loves seeing me happy, so maybe she likes the boat because I love it so much. She’s a little nervous on the water sometimes, but she knows I’m competent, and she trusts me. If she sees me get nervous then she’s very scared. Because it doesn’t happen very often.

When we were thinking about getting a bigger boat, i was looking at Nordhavn’s. She really didn’t like the idea of going out into the ocean. But then one day I came home and found her watching Nordhavn videos on YouTube. We ended up looking at a few over the summer, an N47, N57, N55 and an N60. We found an N55 in Ventura California. After we looked at the boat we both agreed it was the perfect boat. But then we also agreed that we’re not at the point in our life where we can takeoff for six months or a year and truly utilize the incredible machine it is. So we decided to go bigger on the Sundancer. Maybe someday. With her blessings of course.

My wife loved the Kadey Krogan pilot house. But she fell out of love when I showed her what a 7 to 8 knot cruise feels like. Also the price tag was a little outside our comfort zone too. If the Beneteau Swift Trawler didn’t have Volvos, we would buy one.

Tell her I watched Big Red get repainted at Yacht Solutions in Cortez a few years ago. The ultimate 80' go fast. Pretty sure it was this one.

Wife loves boating. When we bought our first boat, a 26 ft deckboat, I was a little more excited about it than she was. But she was the one who decided we needed a bigger boat, and she's the reason why we traded up to a 40 foot SR (three months after we bought a new truck to pull the 26 footer, but I'm not bitter at all). She loves to clean the boat a lot more than I do.

At the marina we have a group of friends that with 36 - 43 foot boats docked in 15 ft wide slips. She's the only one of the wives that can dock their boat.

I wish my wife would show a little more interest in learning to run the boat.

if I ever have a medical emergency and i need her to run us in I’m gonna have to bend over and kiss my ass goodbye

My story is, for the past 20 years, i mostly got the grunts and groans of "are you working on that again ?" or "Is is worth fixing that?".

Then just recently, she found out an old friend of hers owned a slip in the yacht club, that they rented out, but she got a tour.

Next thing I knew, she was scouring the web, Yachtworld, Boats.com, Facebook, ect and she found
our new 330.

She asked me to survey it, and then she arranged transport and here it is.

Funny how when its their choice, its top priority lol.

I gotta say, having the Admiral on board, or better yet, having it her decision, is worth its weight in gold.

I just got to get to 45' before she loses interest ;)
