Wives like boats?

I like to boat and she likes to go out to eat, so we boat to restaurants.
LOL fist response I read and describes my wife to a tee with a couple differences. I love the boat , she likes it and yes if there is dinner on the menu she will almost go out in a storm.. lol . I do everything on the boat. The boat is pretty much my toy so I take care of it, the house is hers.

Agreed.
I joked earlier about her, but I wouldn’t have it any other way, other than the part where I wished she understood what’s involved to get the boat ready. It’s my toy as well as my therapy. Sometimes knuckle busters and epitaphs are good for the soul. :D

I just asked my gf if she is excited about me buying another/the next boat, she said yes. I asked what about. She said "kayak and water", it's a start. I give her props (pun intended), she didn't need to even see it and trusted me to buy it on my own.

I wish my wife would show a little more interest in learning to run the boat.

if I ever have a medical emergency and i need her to run us in I’m gonna have to bend over and kiss my ass goodbye
When i told mine she needs to learn, she pointed to the red distress button on the VHF and said “all i need to do is push that”.

I think there is an eye opening theme here that for the most part, boats are our toys, but our wife’s sometimes play with us. Eye opening because I am not alone. I have some convincing to get my wife to agree to my bucket list post-retirement two weeks in the North Channel. I think I will offer to fly her up by helicopter to meet me to save her one leg of the trip. She has a good excuse to not alway like the boat. She has a back with a hair trigger. When that shift happens, she needs to stay very still for a few hours, and then rest it for a day or two till the spasms settle down. I guess I could get a much bigger boat LOL.

Mine says she’s going to drop the anchor and swim to shore. I guess I’m going to die on the boat if I need medical attention.

Creek, size of boat dont matter, some girls be happy on a canoe. Some be miserable on Gates yacht. Never chase size to please the woman.
I am trying to move my slip next spring to one where I can more easily maneuver in and out. Days i wanna go, she don’t. I don’t think i alone on this.

this is why I have the mmsi and ais setup with the radio on the n2k network

Made me laugh. This IS a great thread, interesting to see so many others that are "in the same boat" as me. I do wish she felt the same way about the boats I do, but as some have said she see's it as an expensive toy and doesn't "get it". I've been tuning/modifying a BMW 335i convertible that is another toy, that I love, she doesn't get that, either.

Funny enough we went out yesterday on the fishing boat. She asked to take control and actually approached the dock with it. She got the boat lined up to pull into the slip and then bailed as soon as she saw some guy standing on the dock staring at her. But at least she’s starting to show interest.

It was a joke. I don’t actually want a larger boat for my purposes. I intend to buy a place in Florida post-retirement and will have a boat down there too. So that, along with our planned tear down and rebuild of our cottage will be enough to take on.

Actually size does matter to a degree. My wife hated my last boat. It was a deep V, 25ft Campion. Great boat IMO, but was tippy because of the deep V and rough in big water because of the small size. She hated going out it in, but went along with it. When we got the 33, she loved the comparative smoothness and room. But she loves the beach/cottage more and no back injury risks there.

My wife said her goal for 2022 is to learn to dock the boat. She can operate it already in tight spaces, but docking makes her nervous, but she really wants to learn to dock starting next year. I have all the confidence in her ability and believe it will only take her a couple of times, then I am stuck handling all the dock lines.

My ex-wife would not get near the helm on the 2001 Regal 3780. She helped with everything else though.

Our slip neighbors wife was a licensed captain, and did all the "driving". She was good, real good. He just fished, and they were both happy. I would have married that woman if she was 30 years younger, and we were both not married at the time :)

My wife is a pro at backing both a horse trailer and the fifth wheel, so you can tell that "she gets it". The one time we've had the boat on the water and I showed her how the twin outdrives let you swing the bow sideways, she was ready to take over. If we can ever get our boat sea-worthy, I have no doubt she'll be at the helm. Suits me!

#1reason i never trailed a boat.
#2 not a truck person
Dont look for me on those. Wont be there.
What i do not get is a lot of these morons trash a nice boats and everyone is laughing. I dont get it.
