Tell me. Do your wives, SO, partner, mistress really like the boat, or just tolerate your toy? Help with cleaning or show up when its done and ready to go out? Help with boat chores (paint, wax) or let you do it cause it’s your toy? Complain its too hot, cold, windy, choppy, sunny?
Let me hear stories.

I’ll go first. Mine tolerates it,
bottom paint- yes
Wax- no
Clean - yes
Cold - no
Hot - no
Windy - no
Choppy - oh hell no
Coming up on plane leaning til i get trim tabs stabilize- oh hell fk sht dm no. If I bought a sailboat she’d be in therapy. Grab bar on dash in stainless steel, need to replace with titanium.

I like to boat and she likes to go out to eat, so we boat to restaurants.
Wife loves doing that, putting on the river at 1400rpm, venture out on bay with a little chop, she is freaking out, this a woman who boated with me up and down the Chesapeake for 30 years. I don’t know what wrong with her.
And NO it’s not me. If anything i have gotten safer and more careful.

She grew up on boats and loves being on it. It's named after her. She's the one that's insisted on having a boat. I used to have a sail boat and she told me I could keep it and get divorced, or keep her and get a power boat together.

That said, 100% of the maintenance and cleaning is on me. She'll take care of food planning when going out.

Hot - yes, she likes summer. But we have AC now if it's too much.
Windy - depends. Sitting in the harbor is fine. Going out when it's sporty is a no-go. She's afraid of dying. Also, has a physical condition that makes sideways jerking motion (like beam seas) extremely uncomfortable for her.

Sunny - of course yes. We have a shade on the back to give some relief from summer sun.

Admiral owns the interior and cockpit after I have hosed it. I own the exterior and engine room. Been that way since the first bow rider, 15 boats ago.

We've been through enough heavy seas and squalls over 50 years. Fair weather boating is our preference now, but we can handle just about anything.

The 300DA is hers not mine. The boat and trailer are in her name only. The pick up is in her name only. As for anything but owning it, that is all on me. She won't lift a finger on the boat.

As far as the boat name. That is her mothers nickname and her maiden name combined. Steele is their name and her mother was always called Tutz by her father.

When it comes to the boat, I'm just her bitch.

The old lake boat is all mine.

We used to live on our boat for 4-6 weeks at a time every year so yes to most all of the boating experience was shared. We did this for many years.

Admiral tolerates it. She is there for enjoyment only. No cleaning, no maintenance, no nothing. She's not a big fan of going out, especially if it's not flat -- she's kind of a chicken about adventurous things. She likes to hang at the dock, drink her wine, read her book. I did add AC to help on the hot days. She doesn't like my boat or layout -- which has the open cockpit and deck chairs. She wants "seats."

So she agree to get another boat. But she likes them big. 310 dancer, eh, too small. 330/340, just ok. 370 and her eyes get wide and she has a big smile. Of course, she ain't going to wash or wax the thing. :)

The Admiral loves boating. Her parents bought a Tri-hull ski boat for the family back in the mid 70s and she was hooked. I do all of the exterior work and engine room and she keeps the interior bristol. The only chore she leaves for me inside is cleaning the grey water sump every three months or so.

Wife and I just got back in from trolling in the ocean on our Sea Hunt. I send her home so I can clean the boat (i don’t actually want help hosing the boat down after a fishing trip, it’s easier to do myself), and walk back home. She’s got her kindle and walked over to where our Sundancer is docked and is hanging out on it. She’s cleans the Sundancer, including helping with polishing/waxing. I’ve got a photo somewhere of her sitting on the radar arch with a DA polisher.

My wife loves it, shit when we first got the boat i was way more excited than her, i searched for 3 years! But after taking her our a few times, she loves driving, is very good at docking, and helps clean, i have done most of the maintenance though.

I do feel bad for guys whose wives just tolerate it or dont like it all. They need to be onboard for what makes their spouse happy ya know? Lord knows we could be off doing way worse than driving a boat lol.

Susan is a great partner. Here she is manning the locking loop on the Tenn-Tom in pouring rain - she's smiling - and I'm in the air conditioned bridge. Here she is manning the helm on Reward - smiling. And here we are dancing 39 years ago at her Sister's wedding - what a partner!

80's hair everywhere! Some things never go out of style...
I'll try to snap some tomorrow on our last run before the engine room gets torn up for a couple of weeks.
SPYC in December for the Christmas tour. Santa hat night with Stormbringer on St. Pete Beach, and then the Christmas deal at the stadium with the grandkid. Should be stellar, weather permitting.

I dated a few girls that tolerated the boat, but weren't really keen on it. None lasted very long. Then I met a cutie that would become my wife.

She grew up at her Grandparents cottage and was out in the boat daily. Our first date was on my boat. After children we needed a bigger boat and she was onboard right away. In later years when I "needed" a second, and even a third boat she was always encouraging.

Best first mate I could ever imagine. When we go far away on vacation we always take a cruise (on a boat....LOL.)

Two close friends had issues later in life. The wives didn't want the boat any more. One buddy put the boat to the curb and sold it. The other buddy put the wife to the curb.....LOL... true story.

Just glad I'll never have to do that.....

You need a bigger boat is all I can say ;)
