Wives like boats?

btw, one of our favorite evening pastimes is watching either Idiot Russian drivers, or Boat Launch Failures. 'Can't get much better than that!

if I had a dashcam, the clueless f***wits in Florida could top it.

My ex-wife would not get near the helm on the 2001 Regal 3780. She helped with everything else though.

Our slip neighbors wife was a licensed captain, and did all the "driving". She was good, real good. He just fished, and they were both happy. I would have married that woman if she was 30 years younger, and we were both not married at the time :)
Hence she is now the ex-wife!

Made me laugh. This IS a great thread, interesting to see so many others that are "in the same boat" as me. I do wish she felt the same way about the boats I do, but as some have said she see's it as an expensive toy and doesn't "get it". I've been tuning/modifying a BMW 335i convertible that is another toy, that I love, she doesn't get that, either.

YUP, and my wife certainly won't get THIS! (Shhhh....don't tell her it's on order!)

We met in High School married in 81 . My dad had a 18' starcraft with a 110 merc hanging on the back. She was Indoctrinated on the Ohio river many years ago. In 1988 we bought a 19.5' closed bow Imperial spent most our time on the Ohio and Lake Shenango . After the first trip to the river and spending the weekend on Phillis AKA Drunkers Island she said she wouldn't do that again without a toilet. Thank goodness for Porta Pot. Summers camping on the island and raising our sons. Moved up to a 216 DVX Baja the spring of 2003. Fall of 2003 wife Dx with a brain tumor. After two brain surgeries the Baja scared the hell out of her. So we sold the Baja in 2006. A couple years later wife wanted to go on a house boat trip to Dale Hallow with our boys one girl friend one buddy of the youngest. Wife wanted just one more trip before the boys grew up completely. That week on that House boat the boat bug bit hard. Started internet shopping Ruth started showing a liking to cruisers ended up buying a 1988 230 Wk. named Her Choice. Because it was a Sea Ray I ended up here on CSR met Aftica and started hanging out on lake Erie. Ruth always took the wheel when loading the boats on the trailers. A couple of season getting banged around in the 230Wk on Lake Erie. Six yrs ago we were both internet shopping again went a looked at a 300Da and a 310Da and she told me that's the boat she wanted.

Haulover is my fav, and I would not wanna go thru that either, that water looks brutal!

You guys should see Buzzards Bay in Mass when the wind is SW and the tide is outgoing. Makes Haulover look like a child's play pool. You can get 6-8' seas (that's Florida 10-12' seas) for 3-5 miles. Not for the faint of heart.

There is a famous one where the boat is heading out, bowrider. Girl bounces up once, twice, then over the side and gone. Don’t know if she survived but it didn’t look good.

I saw that one, she was bounced around like a lottery ball!......for some reason bowrider and inlet never really went together for me....

My story is, for the past 20 years, i mostly got the grunts and groans of "are you working on that again ?" or "Is is worth fixing that?".

Then just recently, she found out an old friend of hers owned a slip in the yacht club, that they rented out, but she got a tour.

Next thing I knew, she was scouring the web, Yachtworld, Boats.com, Facebook, ect and she found
our new 330.

She asked me to survey it, and then she arranged transport and here it is.

Funny how when its their choice, its top priority lol.

I gotta say, having the Admiral on board, or better yet, having it her decision, is worth its weight in gold.

I just got to get to 45' before she loses interest ;)
tell me your magic spell to get that to happen!

Tell me. Do your wives, SO, partner, mistress really like the boat, or just tolerate your toy? Help with cleaning or show up when its done and ready to go out? Help with boat chores (paint, wax) or let you do it cause it’s your toy? Complain its too hot, cold, windy, choppy, sunny?
Let me hear stories.

Wife barely rides with me little lone help with it. Currently looking for a girlfriend that would

This thread coupled with my solo maintenance work has really got me thinking about a 27’-30’ center console with twin Yamahas.

SOOOOO much simpler to care for...

Cruising in the high 30s/ low 40s and hammers down running 60+ getting similar mpg isn’t a bad thing either

o_O
