Tim, your plan is right on. You can take the ocean side and once you past Key Biscayne, you can come back inside to the ICW and head down until you get to Islamorada. You can go under the bridge which is about 2 miles north of Holiday Isle. The bridge is high enough for the sportfish yachts as well.
I don't know how to show the photo of the channel and the waterways to attach it here.
Tell me how to do it and I will post it up.
One question, I saw you posted a photo of Biscayne Bay on another thread with the marker symbols. Where did you get that?
Here is the route. You can also go to www.smugscove.com and get the exact location of the marina to locate it on your chart.
Sounds like a plan Tim. Looking forward to getting out there for the weekend. We (wife and I) will actually be out there Friday night through Tuesday. Our daughter (college student at FSU) and a couple of her friends may join us as well. It will be nice to meet someone from the board and to go to the event with a couple of boats together.
It would be nice to meet up for cocktails in the coming weeks before the trip. Kind of a meet and greet. But our schedule looks really full over the next few weeks - going to FSU to "evacuate" our daughter, resurfacing the pool, resurfacing the pool deck, testing out the new Aquaglide floating island, etc. I'll shoot you a PM with my contact info.
Are you staying on the hook or at a hotel? What dates are you staying?
Anyone else on here going to the Bash?:smt038
Hey John, I forgot to ask - you are getting a room at the holiday inn - what are you doing with your boat? I have reserved a slip at Holiday Isle and I'll be living aboard for the long weekend.
I'm sure there's still slips available there if you want to berth near me.

Yeah but how will you avoid the grog all day? LOL.
