YETI Hopper review

Wait. Please tell me you aren’t wearing white NB, pleated khakis and a sport shirt every day? I will never be that old...
Nope, not totally. The shoes are whatever color they have on sale in my size (12EEE) and it's either jeans or shorts, depending on the weather and my collection of t-shirts far outnumbers my collection of polo shirts. My favorites in the summer are the long sleeve, collarless shirts that are protection against the sun (SPF40+) to protect my beautiful, light skin!

You Yeti bashers don't look... I told you guys I have an addiction. My wife was just saying today how the Yeti freeze packs work better than anything else.... she might be addicted too...but she did say we need to stop.... for now

The graveyard.....

and there are more in the attic... I think it is a boater thing :)

My wife says I have a cooler fetish... she may be right.

But I'm a penny pinching boater... I buy RTIC, just as good, 1/3rd the price. I do have a Yeti 45 and a koozie, but the rest of my stuff is RTIC or Igloo.

I've been considering upgrading my cooler but the problem is they're so damn heavy. When I have to drain the ice, I break my back as it is lifting my igloo.....and I don't have a self bailing cockpit.

i purchased an Engel high performance cooler and it works very well keeping ice....i bought a second drain plug and modified it with a hose barb to accept a length of tubing to drain the water overboard.....

Always with the great ideas Cliff. Thanks!! Even if I don't upgrade, I'm doing that with my existing igloo

you can use a hose barb with a built in ball valve instead of a plain barb....with the valve you can select when you want the water to drain and when you want to keep it in the cooler...the downside is the valve will stick out from the cooler a little further than just the barb....

I just need ice to last 2-3 days. Bought a Coleman Extreme and it works quite nicely for my weekend needs and doesn't sweat. I think I paid $25. Boating on a budget. ;)

I hope this thread survives long enough to show someone converting the wasted "champagne cooler" in the cockpit to some Yeti-inspired....something. Mine has only ever been used as a place for kids to lose crap. Someone Yeti-fi it!!!

OMG. You can tell it’s March. We are started go off the deep end...

Just ordered an RTIC 30 Can soft cooler for $89 which is a 40% discount. I'll report back on the quality.

To drain the water out of big coolers I use a siphon. Does anyone else use a siphon?

It's really simple, stick a six foot piece of plastic tubing into the cooler and let it fill with water. While keeping one end of the hose in the cooler, put your thumb over other end of and pull it out of the cooler and overboard. When the end of the hose is lower than the cooler, remove thumb and watch water flow.

Some people buy only premium gas even though their vehicle is tuned for regular. Some people buy Rolex which doesn't keep time any better than a Citizen or a Timex. Some people buy Yetis, even though there are other brands that demonstrably out-perform them. But, heck not my circus, not my monkey.

As I look at my timex, I see its time do go fill up the tank with regular. I think the gas station sells ice for my Pelican.

Hold that thought as you drive to your Sea Ray and not your Bayliner. :D

Love my Yeti stuff, have not stepped up to a cooler yet but we sell Pelican at my work and they are the real deal.

Not your circus but for some reason you need to make a point... And that is fine. I never bashed anyone that didn't buy a yeti. So not sure where the animosity is coming from?

In the end we all do what we want... And enjoy what we do... Leave it at that and appreciate it.... Just don't drive slow in the fast lane... That gets me really mad :)

If animosity is what you perceived, I apologize. Certainly not my intent.

Been looking at that. I'd probably just order an extra cooler plug (Cabelas, Orca, RTIC) and drill it out then epoxy a barb and hose to it. I can remove it once it drains with minimal cost.
