YETI Hopper review

Friend bought the Yeti hopper after we got tired of climbing from the bow of his 360 back to the cockpit to grab ice and make a drink. Needless to say, after a few too many drinks it was named "Baby Yeti" and there is no swearing around baby yeti.

I like Yetis, and regardless of the cost, they do a great job, many of my friends have them in different sizes, they do what they are expected to do.

Someone mentioned marketing. Of course they are going to maximize the most from their sales. If you can't justify this brand, there are many others to choose from. Each of which has its merits and downfalls.

I'm not going to hijack this thread, but I personally went with a competitor brand. I love it. It's not that I didn't like the Yeti, but from my research, my experience with my friends and what I use it for, I went different

Look up Yeti comparisons. You will find many YouTube videos and articles extolling the virtues of each, including some of the other brands mention so far. The Yeti is certainly a good cooler and worth the price if you choose it.

BTW, love the lettering and cushions! I need to look into that, I know my cooler has an option for cushion! I like that idea, since it takes up some room in my cockpit.

The greatest thing about Yeti coolers is their marketing. Coolers are ok but you want to better cooler that is more rugged, and doesn't stain like most Yeti's I have seen, check out Engel coolers.

I have an Engel cooler and I love it. Keeps ice just as long as my friends YETI, but costs less. However, I do have a YETI tumbler and it is awesome.

I have that same softsided yeti and love it. From just a geek aspect the "coolest cooler" has had my eye.

Update:
Hi... My name is Blueone and I am addicted to Yeti coolers... :)

I posted this review some time ago. The original Hopper 30 we bought has been a fantastic cooler for the boat, tailgating during football season, vacations and hotel weekends. I stand behind this thing 100%. But... It started to deteriorate around the zipper. This would cause the zipper to get hung up or stuck.

Since purchasing this cooler we have bought a Hopper Two 20 and a Flip 18...we love them all for different purposes. So I was a little disappointed in the original and concerned that the other two would end up in the same condition. I sent a note to Yeti about the problem and they responded instantly with a prepaid fedex label to return the cooler and a pledge to replace it. Within 4 days we received the replacement. They discontinued the original so they sent the next generation Hooper Two 30. Pic'd below

I know you pay a premium for these things... But in this case it's a great performing product and customer service second to none in my opinion. Just thought I would pass this on if anyone was on the fence.... Just don't get addicted.

I'm sure Yeti products perform well, but I would worry about theft. I have a dockmate that has a Pelican cooler. Made like a Yeti but a lot cheaper.

I got a great deal on a 65 qt. Pelican a few years ago and love it. Better hardware and design, same performance for far less lettuce.

Theft is a real concern though. Not something you leave in your pickup bed while you’re in the store.

The Yeti koozies are amazing and well worth the money. Short of losing it, you’ll have the thing for decades, but I wish some kind of lid was built in to keep the damn yellow jackets out.

I don’t know why need all these coolers.

When boating years ago with my ex. Anything needing chilling we just put between her thighs... that is a old joke!

We have two hard side and two of the soft sides. One hard side in the cockpit and one on the swim platform. We use the soft side ones for the little boat.
They are great.

We have an ice box on our boat that is located under the L seat. Ice melt drains over board via a through hull. The ice maker makes 20 pounds per day. Fridge is 12v so we have plenty of onboard cooling.

I'm just not the demographic for Limited Ed Nike shoes, Starbucks, or Yeti coolers...
Okay... The Starbucks thing hurt.. I have never stepped foot in one. Not sure what a limited Ed Nike is... I just like a product that performs, looks good, is functional, made of quality materials and the company stands behind their product. That is rare these days... Unfortunately you pay more for it... That's all I am saying here

Nothing against Yeti coolers, I'm sure they're real good....

Me too. I wear New Balance shoes because they come in a wide width and I get 'em at Big 5 Sports for about $35-$40, my coffee comes from McDonalds ("I'd like a senior coffee, please") for $.75 and the same old coolers I've had for years.

We boaters can be a pretty hysterical bunch. Pump $800+ of fuel into the boat for a weekend trip to a place we could get for $35 in fuel in the 'ole Ford Explorer. $300 on a cooler? Ridiculous and excessive!!! Hah!

In all seriousness though....I had no idea Levi's were anything other than mainstream normal stuff. I have so much learning to do. Thank goodness for the internet :)

Wait. Please tell me you aren’t wearing white NB, pleated khakis and a sport shirt every day? I will never be that old...

What's with all the Yeti bashing?... you participate in recreational boating one of the worst investments out there short of a plane and you draw the line at coffee, sneakers and coolers ?... That makes no sense... :)

Yep, No different than JL, Wet Sounds, Fusion, Magma or even Searay. I slight no one for their purchasing choices. Different strokes for different folks. And yes I enjoy my Yeti cooler.
