Wintering in NC?

New Bern is not bad, about an hour East of 95 by car, and about 1 1/2 hours from Raleigh (RDU) airport. You would be about 2 hours by boat to the Beaufort Inlet. It is safe water up there.

From a boating standpoint New Bern is great. Pamlico Sound is a large protected bay with a lot of rivers and gunk holes to explore. New Bern itself is an old historic town with some nice restuarants. The marina behind the Hilton is a nice facility.
