What's this? A 650 Fly possibly? A spotting of an elusive vessel!

When I am in your area and have any time at a public dock (which does happen) I will be happy to let you know where she is docked....ask Jeff and my man ZZ13. No deposit check required, just a hand shake and photo op for me to remember meeting you. Truly hope to see you all....heading to Wrightsville Tuesday morn.........Rusty

In Wrightsville Beach and just docked at MarineMax for a few days. If you can stop by or just yell at me that would be way cool !! I am not good at posting pictures so I asked FW if he could help me out by putting one or two that I have sent him via phone shots.....I will get qualified on posting pic's and hopefully have a ton to share......did I say how much I like driving the 650FLY !!!!!

Here are the photos Rusty asked me to post. These are taken at various times early in the trip. Some are underway, others at the dock........pretty self explanatory:

Approaching one of the locks on the Okeechobee Waterway:

In position waiting, waiting, waiting:

Doors open at last:

Okie Dokie - I'll hold right here:

Is everything made in China?:

10mph in this boat is sometimes necessary, but such a waste and makes for a long day......she is built to run:

Great pics Rusty! Great captions Frank.
Why is the speed set to MPH? Not very manly!
What's with the anchor deployed at the dock?

Very nice pics.

Looks like he has a lot of front end real estate hanging off that little dock.

I imagine the anchor might help with stability?

No Sky hook at the dock? :)

Some customers rely on mph ?????? The other three screens had knots displayed. Notice in that photo I am deep in the fog with no vis through the windshield. I am using the electronics instead of my eye sight, which reaches the windshield and no further. Anchor deployed?? I am tied up to a 10 foot wide dock in a 65 foot boat.....drop the hook for stability of course. That was St. Pete and have since been to Palm Beach, Canaveral, Fernandina, Savannah, Charleston and now Wrightsville and headed north. Hope to see you and hope we can have a beverage on this unreal 650!! ......thanks guys and of course thanks to the Reverend Frank for his help.

Rusty

Let us know when you're in the Annapolis area and I'll head on over to say hi. (I still take it DC is not on the itinerary)

Thanks!

Dearest Capt. Rusty-
When I asked about the deployment of the anchor at the dock, it was not intended as a critique but rather as a learning opportunity for me! Thanks for sharing your wisdom. I have never tied a big boat at a small dock. Better than a fat guy in a little coat, I guess.

The dock photo appears to be on the ICW. One of the factors we deal with along the waterway is wakes and an anchor does add stability to a docked boat.

This is a situation where a company marketing a boat with a gala event has probably chosen an approach a private owner wouldn't have chosen. The boat was the "star of the party" and needed to be positioned where she could be seen by approaching guests, In a perfect world, an owner would probably anchor the bow with 2 anchors set well apart and turned the boat bow to the wave potential then fendered the stern on the dock for boarding.

Tied up at Wrightsville Beach Marina....anyone near?

MarineMax has boat scheduled for tomorrow evening but until then, Im here and would love to see you!

Capt. R

Boat and Capt. Rusty will arrive during the day on 6/12 .............they will depart at daybreak on 6/15. Unless you are invited by the area dealers to their event on 6/13, don't try to see Rusty or the boat then, before or after is better so Rusty won't be as tightly scheduled.

Good to know. Working on the invite as we speak. :) Notice I am still boatless, but that is to change this up coming week I hope.
