What's this? A 650 Fly possibly? A spotting of an elusive vessel!

I think I will just hope to see the 650 somewhere near our end of the bay

Interesting. I wonder if they're checking names on a list when you RSVP. Looking at the photos from the Florida events they look formal.

I am 100% certain that A. They're formal and B. Those RSVPs are from invitation only.

Just so we keep perspective here and perhaps save someone an embarrassing moment, here is Rusty's message re: seeing him and the 650FLY on his tour:

"When I am in your area and have any time at a public dock (which does happen) I will be happy to let you know where she is docked....ask Jeff and my man ZZ13. No deposit check required, just a hand shake and photo op for me to remember meeting you. Truly hope to see you all....heading to Wrightsville Tuesday morn.........Rusty"

Sea Ray and the dealers realize that this is a boat that cannot be stocked at every dealership. In order to allow prospective buyers to see the boat, they are doing this tour with the boat and having formal, catered evening events at private homes or resorts to showcase the 650FLY and to give invited prospects a chance to look her over. If you are invited, expect to be met by your local salesperson and be escorted thru the boat. The boat arrives a day or so before the event to allow time to clean her up after several days at sea to get there, then there is the formal party, and it is usually followed by a day or 2 left in the schedule for sea trials for buyers with a sincere interest. If you are not really interested in buying a 650, then please don't try to crash the party without an invitation from the local dealer.

If you just want to see Rusty and the boat, then take him up on his invitation: "When I am in your area and have any time at a public dock (which does happen) I will be happy to let you know where she is docked....No deposit check required, just a hand shake and photo op for me to remember meeting you. Truly hope to see you all..........Rusty". Call or text his cell, drop a comment here, send him a PM, send him an email, or hail him on VHF-16. Knowing Rusty, if he can accommodate you and not interfere with the schedule he has to keep, I am sure he will find a way.

Oh my...it is not yet 6am and I thought I would get in some reading on my favorite forum and am reading a private invitation to a private party being posted for all to see...hummm.

In lieu or writing a ton here, please understand and respect our dealer's ability to show this boat to their established customers who are excited about buying one. I have been in marinas for 2-3 days and have asked that you come by and see me and the boat, which a few have, as witnessed in previous pages on this thread. The private events being held are lasting just a few hours out of an entire weekend which I totally support and can respect. We at Sea Ray are not the ones doing the invites so to post a private invitation on the internet is going to cause me to refrain from future postings of my trip.

I have asked for anyone and everyone to come see me at open marinas where I dock, but I will protect those who have invested time and money to put on their private gatherings. If you want to see the 650FLY, please do and I will tell you where the boat and I are tied up. The 650 has way more available time at marinas than to be calling a private number and being asked to attend a selling event just to get a look.

I want you all to see this beauty and you can do so through me at your local marina, not by calling anyone other than your salesperson and arranging to be escorted by them. Wouldn’t you rather see it in the comfort of just me and you?

Kind of makes me think what would have happened if someone posted the invitation to my daughter's wedding on the internet for all to come...I would be both, broke and embarrassed.

Looking forward to seeing you all with flip-flops and a cool beverage where we can visit undisturbed...not in a selling environment.

Much Respect,
Capt. R

This makes total sense and I was quite surprised to see it posted here. You can tell it's an invite only event due to the fact they are withholding the location in the invite. It's also SR's opportunity to talk business with actual buyers, not enthusiasts.

We'll try to catch you outside of the event when you're in Annapolis.

Al, thank you for your edit. I hope all those that added it to their posts will follow your lead. As I'm sure they will. Rusty is a massive help when it comes to our older Sea Rays and it would be a great loss if he stopped.

Rusty, you are The Man. Thanks for being so open and available.
Just remember the the road to hell is paved with good intentions.

Rusty is right ,just think what could happen if someone from another forum saw that ,they would be pitching lean-tos and tailgating in peoples yards for weeks ahead of a showing just to say they were on a 650 ,and then claiming it was no better than their B&*^$#@r,and we cant have that.

LOL exactly Tim! SeaRay Corp posted the pics and they totally confirmed the event. It looks to be a well planned affair and looks like there were a great many takers for that 21 year Glennfidich tasting.
Reminds me of the line from Madagascar 2 when the king is in first class and the giraffe sticks his head in and kings yells at him to leave saying "It's nothing personal it's just that we're better than you!"

Sent from my Galaxy S3

Woot woot. I got an invite... My wife didn't... so I'm a single guy showing up to the party.

I'm buying a basketball team otherwise I'd consider this boat.
