Mackinac Island to Michigan City on several occasions. Trip was 350ish miles, didn't want to, but I needed the boat moved due to weather and schedule. (I was alone on the boat to make matters worse.) 22 hours enroute, first time with no autopilot...I wouldn't recommend it.

In all reality, I try to limit myself to no more than 8 hours at a time.

Possibly August 26th. We rented a house for the week in edgartown.
The plan is to leave the boat on a ball for 1 night in Menemsha and bring it to edgartown the following day for 6 nights on a Mooring.
Little thing I forgot to mention, marinemax called me this morning to tell me they need to lift the starboard engine to fix an oil leak from the lower unit near the transmission.
Hopefully still under warranty as we rebuilt the engine last year.
Not a great start for my trip...

Making omlettes while the boat is running on AP?

If you guys remember a couple of years ago I had the pleasure of helping Capt Rusty run L650 Fly, hull #1 back to Skyes Creek from Long Island after their coastal tour to show off the new boat. It was a trip I won't ever forget. Being with Rusty for a week on the boat was a load of fun and a great experience. Somewhere about 40 miles East of Charleston, and about that far out in the Atlantic, we saw a ballastic missle submarine (a "Boomer"). All we could see was the tower and about 1' of the hull sticking above the water. No markings we could see, all shiney black and very sinister looking.

Makes me want to rethink the notion of making omlettes while underway......... I guess we should have given them an "I'm busy making breakfast" call on the VHF. Not really necessary because if you have even made a delivery with Rusty, you know that breakfast is a granola bar if you happen to have brought one along.

I've done 225 miles without a stop, a couple more hours would be OK but that's about all I'd want. I don't think my boat is overly noisy but that constant engine drone bothers me after a while, ear plugs are required.

I never meant to intimate that we don't keep a proper lookout. I was pointing out that we are lucky to have a large, stable vessel with accommodations that allow for driving and going about life at the same time. Having a fully functional lower helm next to the galley is a huge luxury.

A couple of times a year we make the run from Cape Canaveral to either Spanish Cay or Green Turtle Cay in the Abaco Bahamas which is the fuel stop and where we clear in. That run is around 180 miles.
Alternatively, we clear in at either Grand Cay or West End which is 130 miles.

One of our destinations on Lake Erie is Put-In-Bay, twice we had made that 220 mile run because of having to wait out wind or wind was coming. Both times were with our 330, the bravo III's made that doable at 27 -28 mph non stop, but it would use most of the fuel.
Hopefully now that work is out of the mix, forced marches are a thing of the past.
While looping last November, we crossed the Gulf from Carrabelle to Tarpon Springs. We left Dog Island at 4 pm and arrived at Tarpon at 11 am the next day. Only 172 miles but 19 hours. We had never done an all night'r before and most loopers do it this way so we were in. The stars are amazing that far away from any light source and we were just a few days after the super moon and the moon rise was spectacular. At 9 mph, it's a no stress cocktail cruise, and the few hours that I was sleeping was a great confidence builder for Karen. She also made sure we went to a few fancy restaurants that next week with the diesel dollars that were saved by not making a fast daylight crossing.

I did South Haven Mi to Frankfort Mi (about 170 mi) in about 10 hours this summer. I was shooting for Leland but the 4-5 footers north of Pentwater shut us down for the night in Frankfort. No auto-pilot just me and the admiral. We had limited time for a vacation so decided to hit it hard the first day. Long day. I think I was asleep before me head hit the pillow.

Two years ago I left from Bay Harbor Yacht Club to Mackinaw City (60 miles) to fill up with Diesel and then continued to Lexington Michigan (226 miles) non-stop (60 + 226 = 286 miles) in one day. We left Bay Harbor at 8:00am and were having dinner in Lexington at 7:00pm that evening. We traveled with our 450 dancer and a 52 Dancer. The water was the best I have seen on the great lakes. Nothing worse than 6 inchers!! You need autopilot when going all day especially looking out for the Indian Fish nets marked with Clorox bottles!!

At the start of August, we were heading from Lk St. Clair to Mackinaw Island. Made a jump start to Port Huron after work so we could use most of the following day to make a long run.
Took off out of Port Huron and 2.5 hours into the trip, we were running in 7' waves. I decide to head into Harbor Beach and found a bunch of fishing nets (while in the 7' waves). Stayed in Harbor Beach for an extra day due to Gail Force winds, kicking the waves up to 17'.
Next morning, woke up early, took off for Mackinaw Island. We made it in 9.5 hours with a 1 hour lay-up in Rogers City to get some fuel. Longest I have run the boat, was surprised how fatigued I got when we got to the island.

I've gone from Poughkeepsie, NY to Barnegat Bay NJ in one day - probably about 110 miles maybe. Also have gone from Pough, ny to Northport Long Island a few times
