Looking to upgrade from 18' to a 20-22'. My tacoma has tow package including oil and tranny cooler. It is rated to tow 6500lbs
You guys that have a 20'-22' select or SD what do yo tow with?

The mighty Titan. I always use low 4 to pull up the ramp both to take it easy on the drivetrain and because I might not otherwise ever use low 4 at all. :)

Had an 02 220SD that I used to tow with my F150 SuperCrew 4x4 w/ tow package and 3.55 rear on a magic tilt aluminum trailer w/ surge brakes on one of the 2 axels.

it would tow fine on the flats even in OD, but on the hills i would have to lock out the OD.

Funny, I am the same way when I go to the local land-fill which has dirt roads. Otherwise, not many times I can or really need 4x4.

What year and engine? Mine is the same way. What gas mileage did you get - I can (can used lightly because not likely) get upwards of 20 mpg without any load and keeping it under 60 mph. Once I hit highway speeds, it drops to 15-16 mpg. Towing to the local launch (lots of stop and go), I get 10-11 mpg. Long, flat straight drives at about 65 mph, I can get 13 mpg.

I have a 225 BR, it probably weighs the same as a select. About 3900 pounds empty, but add gear and 72 gals. gas well over 5500 including trailer.

Sorry, no pictures. I tow with my 1997 Suburban 1500. Used to tow a 18' Sea Ray and did not know it was back there. Now have a 24' that weighs 3900lbs. empty. I only tow 2 or 3 times a year to the slip and back. This one I can tell it is back there when I brake (surge). I do love this suburban but hardly drive it around town. City milage is 15.3mpg, highway 17.1mpg and towing 10.7mpg. I will always own a Suburban, like the way they drive and tow.

I know someone else that feels the same way! Nice protection when someone rear ends you too!

I have an 03 Sonoma Zr2... which im pretty sure is comparable to your Tacoma... and a 220 select.

It will pull it... barely (and NOT often)

I just tow twice a year (once to slip, and back) - and I wouldnt do more. Im actually looking to upgrade to an 08 Sierra - just because of wanting to tow the boat to different areas...

'06 Tundra. Doesn't have the new 5.7L engine, but with a 185 sport I guess I don't really need it.

I tow my 200 select with my 2500 full size 4X4 Cummins. A little over kill for this boat, but I also tow my 2001 Camaro SS in a 20ft enclosed trailer. So this Dodge makes it real easy to tow the boat around. Looking next year to get a Tahoe, so we may trade off once in awhile.

This probibly didn't help much. :smt017

I tow my 225 Weekender, with a 1999 Ford Explorer V8 with tow package. I know I am pushing the limits, but I am only pulling it a couple miles to launch. The SUV works for me, plus it's paid for....now if I could just get the boat paid off.......would love a 290SS....heh, heh!

I pull my 21' 2006 sea ray select with tandem trailer using a 2002 Escalade. The boat is around 3500lbs and the trailer is another 1500lbs for a total of 5000lbs. I haven't had any issues. The nice feature is the auto-leveling that the truck does which helps ensure a smoother tow.

Nothing like a 2500HD to pull your boat with .

I pull my '07 185 Sport with an '03 F150 FX4 w/tow package and 3.55 rear end. Looks like it would do okay with a 220 Sundeck as well...

I tow my 220 Sundeck with a Ford F-150 Fx4 5.7L with tow package and 3.55 rear end. Trailer has 2-Disc brakes. Tows great but you'll know it's back there when you hit the hills...Locking out OD is a must. Other than large hills, I can cruise at about 70mph. Once I move to a bigger boat I'll have to upgrade the truck as well.
