WESTERBEKE 6.5 BCG

Well boys and girls it's finally over with, I finally got her running..I think I have less hair (from pulling it out) but I finally got it whipped.I borrowed my buddy's digital tach and she was turning about 2100-2200 RPM's. The over rev switch was doing it's job. I finally got it turned down to about 1800-1840 it kinda bounced around a little but all the hz's and volts is right on load and no load...I thank everyone so much for all your suggestions and hints as to what it might have been, no way I could have done it by myself without all the help and my friend Larry who is good with electronics.....THANKS AGAIN YA'LL B.B.

So how did you get the RPMs under control? Governor linkage? It's usually something simple.

Yea we adjusted on the governor linkage for about 30-45 min and also the Increase/Decrease speed screw Mostly the I/D speed screw.

Look how much you learned and now will be able to help others... Congrats

Thanks, I did learn quite a bit even a little about electric from my friend Larry,he showed me about jumping some wires but I still have a lot to learn about reading those schematics. But I will definitely be able to help someone else a little better..

I have 2 of these on my system. One at the helm, and one at the A/C breaker panel. I also have a portable one that I plug into the cockpit outlet if I am troubleshooting/adjusting my genset.

I have one of those that plug in to the receptacle that we used I always use it when I go to another Marina when we spend the night to check the electric output there...I may check in to one like you have and install one of those that looks pretty handy...

Yes I checked it before we went out and it doesn't use any oil at all. Anti-freeze is also full tune up this spring....

Did you ever figure out what was going on? Mine is doing similar right now.

Hey BAC94 just saw your post, mine needed the governor adjusted because it was over running on RPM'S...I had put a new bearing on the governor shaft...
