I'm kind a video hobbiest and was planning on documenting my first season on my first boat with video. I think it would be very cool if we started a youtube clubsearay account where others that shoot video on their sea rays could upload to and share with all of the rest. I can create a video intro that incorporates the club sea ray logo and make that available for others to tag onto the front of their videos.

Maybe we can also do "How To's" and "Modifications" or "get todgethers" videos for the sea ray community. Or whatever else. Maybe even do a "Sea Ray Surveyor" video on what a surveyor looks for in a boat. Something informative other than video of my dog's ears flapping in the wind.

I don't know how many others here shoot any kind of video on their boats. But I think it would be pretty cool as there doesn't seem to be much Sea Ray video out there.

Sounds like an interesting idea......let's see what others have to say.

I can't only take short movies with my digital still camera so I don't know how much I can contribute. But a new Digital CamCorder is on my list of things to buy this summer.

I think it is a great idea. I hope we can have a thread here to help others (me) with how to do videos, editing, etc. What programs work best, ease of use, etc.

Dave, would a bigger memory card help? they are getting pretty cheap.

Sounds cool to me. We also are going to get a video camera this year. We are getting the Hard disk drive type (HDD) so we don't have to keep tapes or DVD media aboard.
I use a program called Pinnacle which allowed me to convert all my family's old 8MM video to Digital also. You may have seen some of that on the video I made for the Ebb Tide. We want to keep documenting our trips for the same reason.

I think its a great idea. Do you want to open the youtube account or want me to do it? I have never done it, but have no problem figuring it out if you want me to.

Jim,
I can open one up and give you the login info if that makes it easier. Otherwise it's pretty easy. Should only take about 2 min to do. The only option is a directors account which allows for videos over 10 min. I've never done that but I think you have to have a few videos up for awhile to qualify anyways.

hey Tim that's a great site....really enjoyed all the pics and the video.....Dave.

Tim, looks like you have a jump on the video thing.

looked like a nice trip too.

Ok, time to start assembling my video gear, well just as soon as I close on a boat.

I'm on a mac using final cut pro software. I'm pretty well versed in video equipment and formats so if anyone needs any help, just fire away.

Ok, I created a ClubSeaRay account and applied for a directors account which allows for videos over 10 min. not sure how you guys want to handle the account for users to upload videos to. Should we just make it public here? If we do that then some rogue person can get the login info and put up something bad and then the account will be gone.

Or if you want, I can manage the account but I will require me getting a title like "Minister of Media" or something equally intimidating.

Or I can just give it to Jim or the moderators and let them deal with it? feedback please......

You sound like you have a clue how to do and if you are willing, I think that is cool.
What about Scorcerer of SceaRay Scinematography?
or

This sounds great! Now will someone hurry up and post a video of removing an Alpha I outdrive, replacing all the bellows and waterpump? :smt038

Maybe I'll do it...but then that means I'd have to have my wife out there with me to videotape.

How about if someone has a video to upload they just PM you for the info. needed to logon etc. That way it shouldn't become public.

Good idea.

Ok, anyone that has any video of their boats they would like to share with the rest of us, just PM me.

Maybe you lugged your camcorder to your boat delivery?

Maybe you are having a boat surveyed and you brought or plan to bring a camcorder?

nice day out on the water?

maybe you are doing a modification and you can capture it on a camcorder?

maybe some older video you shot in past seasons you'd like to share?

Maybe you have a cool new gadget you want to share with the rest of the class?

Not sure what to do? just drop me a note and I'll try and help you through the compression of your video and uploading it to youtube.

As soon as the youtube channel is online, i'll post a link.

Ok, account setup now. here's a link to our youtube channel

http://www.youtube.com/ClubSeaRay

no videos up yet. So if you have videos, it's ready to go.

I take delivery of my boat monday or tues, depending on the weather so if I can remember to hit the record button during all of the excitement, there should be a video in the next couple of weeks.

Very nice now I have to figure out which digital camcorder I should buy :smt017
