Did anyone try and actually call their credit card company? You can usually do a chargeback that way. I know American Express is the best for this but try and give your card a call. You usually have to fill out a form. They may have a time limit too but if you explain that the proposed lead time for completion exceeded that time frame and then you never received the item it may work. Good luck again guys.

I could be remembering this incorrectly, but I believe that it is illegal for a vendor to hold a pre-payment (not a deposit) for more than 30 days without either delivering the product or refunding the money. If you paid in full using a credit card, then your card company should be able to do a charge-back without too much trouble.

Edit: Found the law that applies: http://www.ftc.gov/bcp/edu/pubs/consumer/credit/cre28.shtm

Good News!! I just got off the phone with my credit card company and they told me that they will take care of it. All I have to do is fill out a transaction dispute form and they will go after him. Regardless of if they are able to collect from him or not they will reimburse me for my loss of funds. They said it may take up to 45 days, but thats nothing after dealing with Vector

I know many of you are upset at Vector and rightfully so, this is a public forum and defamation of ANYONE is not the right thing to do. I would ask any of you who have accused Scott of drug use etc. and anything not factual to please consider removing it from the forum. We can discuss the failed business practices, strategy to get refunds or product, but going personal about even a cronic excuse machine is not worthy of our forum.

I agree with MM. I certainly understand why people are so mad but I've never gotten personal. I have only pointed out the MANY excuses he has given so that others can learn from past mistakes and make an informed decision on future purchases. The "excuses" for delays I've mentioned are all real and documented on this and other member boards. And sadly, I'm sure, I've missed a few.

Hey guys,
I don't know Scott but, I have had a fair amount of experience with abusers. I can spot the signs a mile away and only made a possible anaology of the situation as I see it. I believe this was also mentioned on the Mako board too.

So for the record let me state it plain for all to see: I don't know Scott personally nor am I aware of any of his personal issues on any type of level.

That said, his practices and ridiculous excuses are very eerily similar to what I have seen in the past of people that were abusing drugs at the time.
There is always an excuse and it is NEVER their fault.

Is that clear enough?

I feel bad for the dude. He had a good thing going here and tanked. Unfortunately he fleeced a few of the fellow members here and doesn't bother to even talk to them anymore. I was pulling for the guy all along but I feel, and it's just a feeling, that he has lost a battle with his demons. Enough said.

This is the same thing I did. Now off to another source for my panels and switches.

I'm going to take mine to a signage shop we use and get them to make one. I guess they'll use Polycarbonate with a sticker to match the rest. If I was in the US I would check out Tecnografic as others have recommended...

If you find another source, please let us know. Thanks,

Mike

Mike I ordered another set of panels from Chris at Tecnografic. He has the template for my boat so I dont have to send him my panels for fitament. Price is a little higher but at this point just getting some service is good. I dont know that the quality will be as good as Vector, but again its going to be much better that what I have now. Good luck

Pix please when they arrive and if you don't mind my asking, how was the price?

To those ordering from technographic, considering they are the ones that appearantly made the original panels for Sea Ray, do you have any concerns about buying the same product again that failed the first time around? Although I have never had a problem with mine to date (very little sun on helm though), from what I have read here over the years, the main reason so many people are having to get their panels re-done is because apparently the original panels had no UV protection to keep them from fading out. Trying to remember back but as I recall, that was one main reason why Vector's panels were [once] so popular, because they held up to UV whereas the OEM panels did not do as well. Do the MarineMarks panels have better UV protection or is Technographic now using better base material?

I may have been one of the last people to get replacement dash panels from Scott at Vector.
If someone sent him their dash panels, and now have no panels, I have my old ones.
My boat is a 1996, 370 Sundancer.
If you need my panels, just let me know?!?!

I had mine done there 3 years ago. They still look new. I will post some pictures when I have time. Jason has pictures of mine also, ask him.

I would offer my old panels for patterns if someone with a '98 450 lost theirs to Vector.....

This thread has gotten too long. Look at my post number 60. Since that post tecnografic has redone the screen-print for me. Looks great but I cannot comment on the longevity.
