Well now don't go away in a huff.... In all fairness to others you came in stating things as you see them are fact and all else is wrong with no basis given to support; at least that I can see in the postings here. I think you might have taken what I said personally and that was not the intent; in fact I agree there is consistent and constant change to our ambient conditions however where we depart is in the reasons why. Mine are not politically steered but by the facts of the physics of where we and our planet exist.

M Prod, don't go away. We all came here for the same reason--to enhance my Sea Ray ownership experience. I kind of think of this Tiki Bar as a bunch of boaters sitting around a bar and exchanging ideas. Yes, we mostly all think we're right but mostly we're somewhat open to listening to the ideas others bring forth. Doesn't mean we'll change our minds but one never knows.

So slide your bar stool back up here, refill your drink and don't get in a huff if someone doesn't agree with you.

Remove all income taxes, instead, impose a higher percent of sales tax on everything you buy. No matter what you do, it can't be avoided, regardless of the income bracket fall in. Everyone pays the same percentage.

If no one can agree to that, then the government needs to control their spending habit and place everyone on a flat income tax. Everyone would pay the same, no matter what. If the other half of people were forced to pay at least 10-15% of their income, it could significantly lower the burden from the rest of us. However, as I said, the government would have to trim the fat.

There it is folks, the one component necessary on which everything sound could be built. Dem or Rep, makes no difference, since 1945, with the exception literally of just a few years Washington has spent more every year than they've taken in.

That's my biggest gripe with taxes/expenditures. Government refuses to control their wasteful spending. Politicians have no desire to do so, as it doesn't affect their paycheck. Heck, they likely get endorsements to go crazy with spending.

What I find amazing is that regardless of whether they are Democrat/Liberal or Republican/Conservative, they all seem to run deficits and have high tax rates. As long as the general population is naive to the fact that it is OUR money they are spending, it will continue. The republican tax reform package means less $ into the government and higher deficit financing in at least the short term. If it does not work to stimulate growth/prosperity and increase overall taxes (and/or if spending is not reduced), y'all may be in a heap of trouble in a few years.

I really hope it does work. Might pressure our Canadian politicians to reduce personal tax rates (corporate rates are reasonable here).

In the not so distant future when all unskilled jobs are filled by robots, the skilled will pay ALL the taxes.

It's ok though. I identify as a robot, so I should be able to use the robot bathroom.

It is elitists with that attitude, so sure of themselves that what they believe is a "fact", Bullsh!t. There is so much money at stake no one is to be believed. It has been reported by many sources that the underlying data for the "facts" is corrupted. The chief science proponents from universities here and abroad have been found conspiring to manipulate the data and you want to talk "facts". You know nothing for sure concerning "global warming". I know nothing for sure concerning "global warming".

What I do know is Al Gore's predictions of 10-20 years ago have missed spectacularly, all the while he has amassed a fortune. Don't you feel just a little duped?

Well really my main point was that there is a BIG difference between weather and climate. Just because it's cold where you are and using that as a basis to argue against climate change, is like saying "Hey I just ate and I'm full so I guess that's the end of world hunger." Not trying to be an elitist (I definitely don't have all the answers!) But there's a huge difference between weather and climate. I think we can all (most of us?) agree on that.

Al Gore isn't a scientist and his predictions were quite sensational ...I'm not arguing that. I'm sure him saying what he said and being a democrat no less, really turned off a lot of right wingers. It's a shame as the U.S. really is the only civilized country that's managed to politicize environmental issues like climate change. Here in Canada we have conservatives and liberals, but we all agree on the key human rights issues, environmental issues (for the most part), etc ...the key differences between liberals and conservatives are manly fiscal. Hell, Canadian conservatives much more resemble liberals in the states really.

Anyway, like I said some 20 posts ago, I don't want to argue in this thread anymore. It's pointless

    Thanks, have a nice day.

Amen to Mike's post. People with divergent viewpoints are always welcome as long as their posts don't resort to name calling and throwing insults directed at specific members.

I got it now. Even though I live in a cold climate, I can still go swimming when the weather is nice.
